They project their own foibles onto you. They tarnish your reputation with libel. They blacklist you. Will a left-wing outlet ever devote this kind of energy to explaining Islamism and the destruction carried out in its name? Will the ethnic cleansing and mass displacement of Kashmiri Hindus ever be spoken about? Where is the discussion of ISIS and its genocide against the Yazidis, the persecution and displacement of Christians in Iraq and Syria, the Taliban’s treatment of religious minorities and dissenters in Afghanistan, or the persecution of Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh?

The truth is that there is no coherent principle here because the standard is never applied consistently. Hindutva literally means “Hinduness,” yet you have taken a contested term, assigned it the broadest and most sinister definition possible, and then used that definition to paint a target on the backs of Hindus whose politics you despise.

We have survived centuries of conquest, colonialism, and generations of outsiders insisting they had the authority to define Hinduism for Hindus. If you believe you can intimidate Hindus into abandoning their identity, good luck. You will fail just as miserably.
