@mindyisser the left needs to wake an realize the American working class isn't going to fight for anyone's liberation, least of all its own. It's never been easier to be a capitalist subject, provided you've been lucky enough to confuse your circumstances with your character.
@heavensbvnny I think your problem is, you are controlled by your "wants." Who the fuck cares what you "want." You need food. Grow up and eat what's in front of you.
Exactly this. The reason the Chomsky letter doesn't surprise me, nor does the fact that any of these people are connected, is because of how people rise to the top in US systems of power. If Chomsky wasn't connected to these people and if they didn't feel like he was an adequate gatekeeper of whatever boundary they were trying to set on the left, then none of us would have ever heard of him. They only amplify voices they want you to hear.
As others have pointed out, Chomsky is a voice for Palestine that opposed BDS. He was anti-communist. He also discouraged people from trying to understand the JFK assassination... I think it's fair to question who those boundaries serve and how much they hamstring political advancement to the benefit of the establishment.
It's not to say that picking up a Chomsky book if you've only been reading US history textbooks won't be extremely informative or even life-altering... But I think it's fair to say for most it's an entry point not an end point in terms of meaningful political evolution.
@aintscarylarry Does it? Lmao.
Politics as we know it is mostly an illusion and that there is some sort of mutual blackmail sex ring that controls US politics from both sides of the political spectrum.
Is that the explanation you are looking for?
