True story…
I was forced to interrupt medical school due to a devastating mental health condition that very nearly ended me. During my recovery, I attended an event & asked the speaker who was a consultant psychiatrist if I, too, could one day become a consultant psychiatrist even though I have a mental health condition. He replied with aggression & hostility. ‘No you can’t!’ and turned his back towards me. Today, I’m Professor Ahmed Hankir. I’m a person living with a mental health condition, a consultant psychiatrist & an Honorary Visiting Professor. Don’t EVER allow anyone to make you feel you can’t realise your dreams. I discuss this & more in my book, ‘Breakthrough: A Story of Hope, Resilience and Mental Health Recovery’ https://t.co/HSaQTZKgUR

"the secret to a long marriage was ensuring your spouse was "someone who is always mildly sedated so she can never realise there are better men out there".
What in the world? Can we SAFELY trust others again, even in marriage?

Is anyone looking forward to this? Just not quite sure what percentage cut we are talking about but hopefully something significant in our personal budgets. 🤞

'Always check and respect consent' they say is one of the simple but life-saving ways to #stopsexualviolence. Reflecting on 'everything' I made this #shortvideo to remind everyone out there the importance of #Consent#NotoRape

There is this video from Gymnastics Ireland from 2021 circulating around at the moment. Our 7 yr olds do gymnastics here and it fills me up with anxiety at what they might encounter. Since moving here I have done a few anti-racism talks and I have found that with its colonial past (or maybe because of it) Ireland hasn't discussed the racism embedded in its many institutions openly so far. This has to be the start of an honest conversation rather an attempt to shirk responsibility and cover it up.
@RobinsonJohn_9 @ellieokwilson your derogatory comment on rape is disgusting. Please learn to respect others regardless of 'flaunting their body' or not. #endsexualviolence
Most times they ask why report or why not report it. Here you go...one of your answers!
For cases reported, hope victims are respected and justice fairly served. #saynotorape#RespectWomen#NoisNo

Mental health problems such as anxiety, stress and depression are now the commonest causes of absence from work for NHS staff. Addressing this requires tackling the root causes; and not just sending staff on resilience and wellbeing courses.
@Azeem_Majeed A pay rise which means we don't have to work overtime to live comfortably and staff who left will come back so we're not chronically understaffed would be a good start
