@_Unknown_D_ A lot of judgemental people here. You don't know the personal circumstances of others.
If councils want to evict people or move them into a different accomendation once their situation changes, they can set those terms as a condition of accepting social housing. But they don't.

If it's made clear to people i.e a condition of accepting housing that they are expected to move once their situation has changed then there should be no grounds for refusal when people are 'asked' to move.

People are either considered homeless, living in overcrowded homes or serious social needs, but 'not being able to afford private rent' alone is not one of them.

The work around is to sign up to multiple libraries.

Just to be clear - a digital ID is a totally insane idea.

If you understand the technology, no thinking individual would want to give centralised control over their digital life over to the government. You MUST make it hard for them to triangulate everything about you.

With that said, they already have access to all the data and there’s almost nothing stopping them from building the ID system behind the scenes anyway.

Centralisation of your data is like giving someone a master key to your whole life. And that someone can change every 5 years. Think of your least favourite politician and imagine them having centralised dashboard to all aspects of your life - healthcare, legal, financial, social, logistical, etc.

The real issue is that they can and will just build this anyway. The Tony Blair Institute have been researching this for over a decade and recommend a system where they just need to plug in all the data and it’s done. Indirectly they are selling this system into 10-20 governments around the world. The system isn’t built in a way that it needs authorisation from users, it just needs the government to plug in the existing data.

It’s not enough to fight it at a surface level because it’s not something that requires citizens to be involved. It can simply be switched on.

He's doing the right thing, teaching them about money so they go into adulthood with healthy habbits. Majority of adults are struglling because they lack financial literacy

The UK once had promising AI players, but their independence has largely been lost. DeepMind sold to Google, Graphcore is backed by SoftBank, and what remains are a handful of university research initiatives and a few startups. That’s it.

Perhaps the UK might excel in applying AI, especially for governance or even citizen monitoring. But when it comes to competing with the big players from the US or the lesser-known giants in China, there’s no catching up.

The US and China dominate not just because of their investments but also because they control the data, infrastructure, and ecosystems to scale AI globally. The UK, with its talent and history, could have been a real contender – but now? It’s hard to see how they could regain a leadership position.
