The State Fair of Texas is a nonprofit.

The president is Mitchell Glieber.

Last reported pay: about $858,000.

He came up selling sponsorships, then ran the whole thing. Under his model the Fair got more logos, more “activations,” $30 parking, $25 turkey legs, and a 2025 crowd so thin people thought Big Tex was on a smoke break.

They say inflation did it.
Inflation did not invent a $28 gondola that used to be $5.
Inflation did not triple the corny-dog-and-a-beer tax.
Inflation did not need a title sponsor to tell you howdy.

Attendance fell to the lowest in nearly a decade in 2025. So this year they knocked $2 off a ticket and $5 off parking and called it listening.

That is not a vision. That is a receipt.

A 24-day-long Texas tradition should not feel like a branded airport with fried food. If the mission is “all things Texan,” start with the part where regular people can still afford to show up.

I believe Mr. Gleiber will eventually do the right thing.

“Homeless” is a propaganda word used to describe people on the street who are mentally ill or severely addicted to drugs. The word implies that this is someone who fell a little behind on their mortgage payment and they’re one job offer away from getting back on their feet, which is obviously false if you’ve ever tried talking to a “homeless” person in SF, LA, NY, Austin or anywhere else.

The honest reality is that we need to bring back asylums for extreme mental illness or drug addiction for those who are a serious danger to themselves or others.

Your strawberry Twizzlers have no licorice in them. The list is corn syrup, wheat flour, sugar and cornstarch, then palm oil, salt, artificial flavor, citric acid, mineral oil, Red 40 and soy lecithin at 2% or less. Hershey says it themselves. The strawberry and cherry ones don't have licorice extract, which is why they get called licorice type candy.

The black ones do have it, and it still isn't much. Black licorice Twizzlers are the same corn syrup, wheat flour, sugar and cornstarch, with licorice extract listed in the 2% or less group. Strawberry is 70% of the Twists Hershey makes in a year.

Licorice extract comes from the root of the licorice plant, and the sweet compound in it is glycyrrhizin. FDA warns that if you're 40 or older, eating 2 ounces of black licorice a day for at least 2 weeks could drop your potassium and cause an irregular heart rhythm. FDA also says a lot of licorice candy made in the US has no licorice in it at all. It uses anise oil, which smells and tastes the same.

BREAKING: Federal law enforcement sources confirm to @FoxNews that the suspect arrested for stabbing two UMass Dartmouth football players over the weekend, killing one, is a Nigerian national who had been in the U.S. illegally as a B-2 visa overstay, but was shielded from deportation by the Biden administration in 2022 when they granted his request for “deferred action” (a discretionary choice by the U.S. government to delay deportation). He then applied for deferred action again in 2025, and the Trump administration approved it and again shielded him from deportation.

Chukwunonso Uzoma David Uzoma Eze was taken into custody by police in Providence, RI after the stabbings, which happened in the parking lot of a lounge, and he is now charged with murder.
