Thank you for amplifying this @CityBeatCincy. 👏 @kroger promised their customers they would end the use of cages for hens by 2025. They abandoned that promise and continue to profit while hens suffer in the same tiny cages year after year. Kroger can change this.
I've been working on farm animal protection for a while now, and I haven't seen anything quite like what's happening around the Save Our Bacon Act.
People who have never organized before, including some genuinely prominent voices, are hosting events, calling senators, and fundraising from friends. And those of us who have been here a while, across many ideological divides and every strategic disagreement, are showing up together.
We've always punched above our weight (out of necessity!), but this feels substantively very different. The political and social cost of supporting this barbarism is finally rising.
Keep calling your Senators and demanding they keep the Save Our Bacon Act out of the Farm Bill for good. Calling is the most effective way to make your voice heard for animals. 📞 (202) 224-3121, or visit our direct action link: https://t.co/D65fxHXhTQ
Animal rights organization Animal Equality is protesting outside Kroger Headquarters after the grocery giant backtracked on a promise to sell 100% cage-free eggs by 2025. Read more on Kroger at the link in our bio.
A massive campaign that will improve the lives of millions of animals has been launched by Animal Equality! They may have broken their promise to end cruel cages for animals, but compassionate activists will bring about an end to the cage age. Take action: https://t.co/H93yFlkbl7
@mytheresa_com@mytheresa_com should cut ties with Nora Aufreiter. Millions of hens are suffering in cages because of her failed leadership. She is ignoring her responsibility!
Footage reviewed by The Times shows a worker from a calf ranch in the Central Valley pulling a calf by the nose with pliers. It shows two workers removing the budding horns of a calf with a hot iron. The footage was collected by the group Direct Action Everywhere. https://t.co/ErjibMibcw
Dear Chrissy Teigen,
I am writing to bring to your attention the growing controversy surrounding Kroger and its ties to extreme animal cruelty.
@kroger publicly promised to transition away from cages for hens by 2025. Yet today, millions of hens connected to Kroger’s supply chain remain confined inside tiny wire cages so small that many cannot even fully spread their wings.
These animals spend nearly their entire lives standing on metal wire flooring, often suffering from injuries, severe psychological stress, feather loss, and exhaustion. Some die trapped in cages beside living birds.
As someone who has publicly spoken about your love for animals and rescue dogs, this issue feels especially important. You recently shared the adoption of Dudley, a rescue dog saved after the Los Angeles wildfires, and spoke movingly about opening your heart again to animals in need.
That compassion is undoubtedly why I hope you will take a closer look at what is happening inside Kroger.
As a public figure associated with Kroger through commercial and promotional relationships, your name and image inevitably become connected to the company’s practices and broken promises.
Please see for yourself the cruelty Kroger is associating you with: https://t.co/xW7jiYMkKD
@AnimalEquality has launched a major national campaign to expose Kroger’s rotten egg promises and call on the company to fulfill its commitment to end cages for hens.
Consumers increasingly expect transparency, accountability, and compassion from the brands and public figures they support.
I urge you to use your compassion, voice, and influence to encourage Kroger to finally do the right thing:
Honor its commitment. End cages for hens.

Sincerely,
Sharon Núñez

We’re unmasking the truth: Kroger’s “Fresh for Everyone” doesn't extend to the millions of caged hens in their supply chain. While Kroger rakes in billions, these birds can’t even spread their wings.

Republicans and Democrats alike should agree: stripping away states’ rights, food safety laws, and humane protections for animals is not what constituents want.
Thank you, @RepLuna, for speaking out against the dangerous “Save Our Bacon” language in the #FarmBill.
@SenAshleyMoody and @SenRickScott, will you stand with @RepLuna and protect Florida’s right to pass its own laws?
Today, @AnimalEquality launches one of its biggest campaigns yet. Demanding that @kroger eliminate cages for hens.

The pork industry lost with voters. Lost at the Supreme Court. So they turned to Congress—and got the "Save Our Bacon" Act buried in the House Farm Bill. It's the biggest rollback of animal welfare protections in U.S. history. A thread. 🧵
