Dialogue, Reconciliation, Forgiveness, and inter-communal harmony must start at the local level if it is to become sustainable and fruitful. It starts with Traditional Leaders with impeccable moral authority and the following of their respective communities to make it a reality.

Wabar Mohamed Wabar Ahmed Wabar Abdi and Ugaas Yusuf Ugaas Hassan Ugaas Khalif have cooled the temperature between their respective communities in Jalalaqsi, and have laid a solid and enabling environment for dialogue, reconciliation, and harmony. A model and an example for other communities to follow!

The collapse of the Bardera Bridge is huge. This bridge built in the late ‘70’s , connected Bardera to El Wak & Kenya. It was the main route to Garbaharey, the Capital of Gedo. Its biggest impact was to integrate the Bay-influenced East with the Gedo-influenced West. A tragedy.

1/2 The Bardera bridge collapsed as result of water erosion on the foundations. Bridges of the same design are on Dolo, Burdhubo, Bu’ale, Beledweyne, Jalalaqsi, Balad, Sabit, Bariire, Awdhegle, Gawero, Kurtunwarey & Sablaale. Bridges in Luq, Kamsuma, Araare, Qoryoley, Abdi Ali..

MP Dhabanacad, the oldest parliamentarian & recent survivor of a Shabaab car bomb, could have come to Mogadishu or gone abroad to nurse his injuries. He choose instead, injured arm and all, to stay in the frontlines and inspire the young in the SNA and community forces. Respect!
