Union Territory of Ladakh has started utilising 90 million litres of glacier water per day, for sustainable water and agricultural security in Ladakh.

Previously lost as untapped runoff into the River Indus, this volume of glacial-melt water from Stok village Nallah in Leh, is now being directly channelized into the Igoo-Phey Irrigation Canal, catering to nearly 12 villages and augmenting irrigation of over 1000 acres of barren land that earlier remained parched due to paucity of water into the canal.

🔷ठाणे - तीन हात नाका परिसरात पूर्व द्रुतगती महामार्गालगत असलेल्या ३००० मिलीमीटर व्यासाच्या मुंबई-III जलवाहिनीला मोठ्या प्रमाणात गळती आढळून आली आहे.

🔷ही जलवाहिनी जमिनीखाली असून तिच्यावर आवरण (encasement) करण्यात आले आ���े. जलवाहिनी सुमारे ३ ते ४ मीटर खोलीवर असल्याने गळती दुरुस्तीचे काम तांत्रिकदृष्ट्या आव्हानात्मक आहे.

🔷गळतीची माहिती मिळताच मुंबई महानगरपालिकेच्या कर्मचाऱ्यांनी आपत्कालीन पातळीवर दुरुस्तीचे काम हाती घेतले आहे. जलवाहिनीपर्यंत पोहोचण्यासाठी आवश्यक उपाययोजना करून गळतीचा स्रोत शोधणे आणि जलवाहिनीची दुरुस्ती करण्याचे काम सुरू करण्यात आले आहे.

🔷���००० मिलीमीटर व्यासाची ही महत्त्वाची जलवाहिनी असल्याने गळतीमुळे मुंबई परिसरातील पाणीपुरवठ्यावर परिणाम होण्याची शक्यता आहे. परिस्थिती नियंत्रणात आणण्यासाठी महानगरपालिकेचे संबंधित अधिकारी व कर्मचारी घटनास्थळी कार्यरत असून, दुरुस्तीचे काम वेगाने पूर्ण करण्याचे प्रयत्न सुरू आहेत.

#WATCH | West Bengal: The sea at Gangasagar in South 24 Parganas has turned extremely turbulent due to a deep depression formed over the Bay of Bengal and the new moon high tide. Massive waves are crashing against the river embankments. This has raised fears of the embankment near Kapil Muni Ashram collapsing.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, the Sagar Block Administration has swung into action. To prevent any major disaster, Civil Defence personnel have started evacuating pilgrims bathing at the Gangasagar sea beach to safer locations.

The administration is making continuous announcements over loudspeakers across the entire beach, alerting pilgrims and local residents. People living in coastal areas have been instructed to stay in safe places.

For now, a ban has been imposed on tourists and pilgrims entering the sea at Gangasagar.
