in 1974, a japanese pharmacist in tokyo released a dreamlike psychedelic acid-folk album. it was the only record he ever released and it was lost for DECADES, until being rediscovered in 2024. he passed away in 2021, never living to see people listen to his music again.
redveil spoke about the way in which white meme culture attempts to reduce Black art to a punchline, stripping it of the depth and intention behind it.
In an interview with Deeeemurph of @Mabfield_, redveil explains, "There's a long tradition of this dynamic with Black art across the world, where white people engage with it in an incomplete way…[the artists'] vulnerability, their emotions or whatever is just like a part of some big meme."
To further emphasize his point, @redveil draws on André 3000's lyric from @Outkast's "Hey Ya!"—"y'all don't wanna hear me, you just wanna dance."
