@TonyJuniper@NaturalEngland It sets a dangerous precedent on conservation 'value'. Elusive, shy species can be supplemented by more human-tolerant ones because there is commercial value in it. That's not a functioning ecosystem, it's a functioning accounts' system.
@MalcolmNSGW@GreenJennyJones@TonyJuniper@SteB777@MalcolmNSGW (hope you’re well btw) Jenny and Steve don’t care about evidences or experience. Steve can cherry pick wishy washy evidence to support his case for local extinction of native species that we can actually help!
@SteB777@TonyJuniper@GreenJennyJones@Natures_Voice Stephen, I really took to the young lady who ran the project between 2022/2024 when this long running project flourished best. Sadly, much of the truth of her teams results were hidden in RSPB comms.
For the avoidance of doubt I’ve manage non DGS moorland for 26.
@SteB777@TonyJuniper@GreenJennyJones@Natures_Voice Have you visited the project? I have and there was zero doubt that predator control and partnership working was delivering results.
Everything I’ve read that you have posted on this subject is really strange. You don’t manage land do you?
@SteB777@TonyJuniper@GreenJennyJones@Natures_Voice also proved the total opposite at Glenwherry. However, it seems they were less keen to talk about the amazing success there in recent years, maybe because it proved that partnership working and targeted predator control transformed nesting success for curlew.
🔥We are in 📍Torres Vedras (Portugal) delivering the “Training in Technical Fire Management” in collaboration with #GreenFlame#FábioSilva, focused on understanding fire as a tool for prevention and suppression.
👉Aimed at equipping students with the necessary qualification to safely operate with fire in prevention and suppression activities, the participants are learning and practising a range of techniques to manage fire behaviour, intensity, and spread.
Thank you #SapadoresFlorestaisTorresVedras 🙌
Well done, @waitrose Now how about taking a stance on farmed salmon - extremely damaging to the environment, awful record of animal welfare and definitely not a healthy food.

@ManxRadio The consultation document is front loaded pushing answers towards year round sailing reliability and doesn’t acknowledge the fact that it can be cheaper and nearly as quick to sail to Liverpool than fly during the summer. A slow boat to Liverpool doesn’t appeal to me.
If you want to have a look at a private landholding inside a national park with lots of wildlife on a tiny budget compared with public land and nature reserves you are all welcome to come and visit me here. And there are literally millions of acres in Scotland similar to me, privately owned, delivering for nature, and working with limited resources but working at scale with both private and public partners. It’s important to get the full story. That way we get it right going forward. So before everyone uses their biases to dis private landholdings, etc etc come and visit and get the fully story. Unless of course that spoils your tired trope narratives. Please don’t take my word for it though - visit and see for yourself. Then we can discuss.
