People get pregnant. Let’s make decisions based on real stories instead of caricatures.
(Note: The subtitle “one more burden” will be changed soon, at my request. Burden isn’t a word I use.)

We can now read the Imperial College report on COVID-19 that led to the extreme measures we've seen in the US this week. Read it; it's terrifying. I'll offer a summary in this thread; please correct me if I've gotten it wrong.

Peace to the things you left undone
the book abandoned, scarf half-knit
The call you meant to make
the friendship never rekindled
The time you did your hair
& then stayed home
Peace to things
that made no difference
in the end
& those
that may have
Peace to the never knowing
Just a reminder that starving yourself tomorrow because you ate a lot today does not solve a problem it creates one. Eating does not require repentance or self-flagellation. Tomorrow morning, as any morning, the best thing you can do for your body & soul is to feed yourself.
Peace to your body tonight
achy muscles, anxious sweat
full or empty bellies
soft fat, warm skin
taste, smell, touch
Peace to tired feet
furrowed brow
Neck spasms
soft ear buzzing
the echo of day’s noise
Peace to dry eyes
toothache
deep breaths
Another
slow
deep
breath
Peace.
Friends, are you regularly practicing silence (in some form) to set aside the crushing weight of the past and future, and learning to open to the healing power of this very moment? No matter where we are, God is here.
Struggling with whether or not you made the “right” decision? Let yourself off the hook. God isn’t behind some doors & not others. Sometimes the right decision is the one you’ve made, just because you made it. In any case, God is present where you are, & in God are no dead ends.
Grieving self-care checklist:
-hydrate. Ur eyes look like shit cause u been crying.
-listen to sad pop music and dance so you can let the grief move thru you.
-eat when you’re hungry. And if you’re not hungry ever, eat a banana or something. Or ice cream. Or anything that’s yummy
