Excited to announce that you can now book time to work with me on a one-off basis! Have burning accessibility questions? Want to talk through an early approach to a larger project? My office hours are for you! https://t.co/QC24d1y3v1
Why does @cityoftoronto only build purpose-built accessible recreation in Scarborough? My west-end wheelchair using self wants places close to home to sport too. We can’t all sit in transit for an hour plus for recreation.
I do not base my opposition to MAiD as public policy on whether I would personally want/not want MAiD.
I really find it shocking how few people grasp this or understand why the latter is irrelevant to the former.
I am honestly aghast at the care @wheelimm is getting at @HRHospital tonight. Two security and a nurse screaming over a wheelchair user in 10/10 pain who fell out of their wheelchair from pain is absolutely appalling and unacceptable.

A pet peeve to yell into the void about on a Monday afternoon: Skillful access coordination (the kind you use for festivals, conferences, cross-disability work) is not a $25/hr job. The kind of experience, education and skill it takes to pull that off is easily twice that hourly.
As Twitter gets more unstable I’m starting to play with creating video content over on Instagram and TikTok. You can find me as @ shay.Erlich on both.

On this International Day for Persons with Disability, I wish all disabled people a day of rest, and a break from being disabled for the non-disabled gaze.
I’ve had to be in touch with several companies lately for small customer service issues. Have to say that the customer service at @Arcteryx has been the worst and most infuriating. My first purchase is going to be my last.
My unpopular take is to stop trying to make disability rights people say that they are for disability justice 🧍🏾♂️
There is meaning to a name. "Disability justice" isn't just a modified "politically correct" version of a term, it holds specific commitments
I want to spend all day writing love songs in poems to all the kinds of disabled loves I know, but the world isn’t full of justice yet so I still have work to do.
I mean public theatre is great and all, but our delivery person just got an significant earful about disability, religion and masturbation through the buzzer and you only get that kind of experience at home.
An Indigenous scholar mentioned that she had a concept stolen from her a few years back. She then proceeded to say “they can have that concept bc I am abundant. When I theorize, I theorize in abundance. I am so much more than what is sometimes taken from me” 😮💨
As a youth worker who works with multiply marginalized disabled young people, I can’t sound the warning bell on MAiD loudly enough. I scroll through social media where young people who were engaged in programs designed for them are now openly questioning applying for MAiD.
The only thing we have to do is decide we want to. That’s basically what it comes down to in terms of whether or not I spend the next 5 years watching the young people I’ve championed and supported flirt with and choose to die. If we act now, we can change it. Will we?

Fill your think tanks with us, and crip your processes so that we can lead the way. We know the solutions, we impart them piecemeal for the community members we can stopgap and support daily. With resources we could turn things around for disabled people in this country.
