Routine postdissection V2 stimulation during thyroidectomy improved detection of nerve injury risk and may prevent bilateral vocal cord palsy compared to selective or R2-only monitoring. https://t.co/N4llTsmDVD
@KeithMillsD7 Many hospital staff, particularly nurses and junior doctors, are regularly finishing work at 8-9pm. In winter it is dark and rush hour crowds are gone. Would you prefer your daughter or wife to get public transport late evening, or get a job somewhere they can drive to?
@jim_demps Agree not sure it's fit for purpose. Also there will be pressure to play centrally contracted players even if they've lost form. Maybe a system whereby IRFU compensates provinces per week they call up players/players receive bonuses according to how many internationals played
@Ruggerbugger90@jim_demps Farrell alongside Stu in centre. Ringrose just not in good form
Back 3 is a problem- there must be place for Stockdale!
In absence of izuchukwu, and considering Doris layoff, wycherley amd coombes on bench
Argument for Hering? he is form hooker now and lineouts cost us match!
@JoeNaConnacht I would say main issue with Munster is front row. Nearly every Leinster scrum being a penalty led to huge distortion in territory and possession stats. But from 4 to 15, each Munster player was arguably better than Leinster (JDVF was excellent but even he was outplayed by JOD)
With over 950 people so far registered, @IAOO2025 is going to be a landmark event - but its not too late to join us and register!

@russellkeating@jim_demps weakened as these are not 1st choice players, and they still have very able next choices who can now be progressed.. and of course Ireland as bench now composed of serious players who are the leaders of their club teams, not players who start on bench for any serious match
@russellkeating@jim_demps I would say yes, Leinster players should be drafted to Munster when critical talent is so unevenly distributed. E.g. If Ronan Kelleher and James Ryan transferred to Munster- everyone benefits! Munster as this makes them truly competitive in Champions Cup... Leinster are not
I went to the 4th Irish Head & Neck Society Annual Conference in @LyrathEstate Conference Centre over the past few days.
As in previous years, the line-up of international speakers was dizzying.
The multidisciplinary nature of head and neck cancer management, and representation on the stage was very apparent.
Another key takeaway:
Listening to @DrNeilGross from @MDAndersonNews, Prof Andrew Schache from @LivUni and @LeilaJeanMadyMD from @JohnsHopkins, neoadjuvant and adjuvant immunotherapy for head and neck cancer is likely to become standard of care in the foreseeable future.
How will this be funded in Ireland? Through private healthcare in the first case at least it seems to me.
Another excellent conference! Looking forward to 2026…

A very inspiring laryngectomy choir opening our head and neck patient & carer information morning @TheMaryborough followed by talks from the team and an eye opening patient story @SheahanPatrick@deecallanan16@SIVUH
Among patients planned for total thyroidectomy who developed first side loss of neuromonitoring signal, outcomes of immediate total thyroidectomy and staged surgery were similar. https://t.co/jbOJb6s5Zl
