Connor McDavid: just the 2nd player in the last 100 seasons to score a point in every team win (41) for a playoff team. Wayne was the other in 80-81. The 14 games he didn't score a point, the Oilers went 0-12-2. MVP.

Iga Swiatek spoke about her training with Rafa Nadal in Mallorca after her win in Stuttgart
“Is Rafa more a strict coach or an easy going coach?”
Iga: “I feel like the dynamics were kind of unusual, because Francisco was his coach obviously 😂. I feel he also let him coach me. But from time to time he was giving his tips. I’d say pretty chill?”
“Did he yell at you one time?” 😂
Iga: “No but he was motivating in a positive way. I’d say chill but on the other hand strict. Honestly it’s Rafa. No matter what he’s gonna say, you’re gonna do it 100%. You know his intensity. Having him on the court you want to show him the same kind of vibe. Just him being there obviously did the job” 😂

🎯 Precision driven by process
Paul Skenes is such a great example for young athletes
To what goes into preparing the body to perform at a high level…
This is everything he does to prepare his upper & lower body before EVERY bullpen
Have a routine, execute it, thrive.
Some of the hardest working high school athletes…
still underperform.
Not because you’re not putting in the work.
But because your mind is working against you.
You care.
A lot.
And it shows up as:
• Overthinking
• Playing tight
• Pressing in big moments
• Feeling like you have to be perfect
Here’s the truth 👇
You don’t need more reps.
You need a better mental approach.
If this is you — start here:
1. SHIFT YOUR FOCUS
Stop thinking:
“Don’t mess up”
Start thinking:
👉 “How can I help my team right now?”
(That might be moving a runner, getting on base, hitting it hard — not perfect)
⸻
2. HAVE A SIMPLE PLAN
Pressure comes from too many thoughts.
Before every pitch, ask:
👉 “What am I looking for?”
That’s it. Keep it simple.
⸻
3. CONTROL YOUR BREATH
Your body can’t relax if your breathing is rushed.
Between every pitch:
• Step out
• Take one deep breath
• Reset
This brings you back to control.
⸻
4. TRAIN GAME SITUATIONS — NOT JUST SKILLS
Don’t just take swings.
Practice:
• Hitting with runners on
• 2-strike approaches
• Pressure situations
👉 Train your brain to compete — not just perform.
⸻
5. DETACH FROM RESULTS
You are not your last at-bat.
Great players don’t chase perfection.
They chase consistency and impact.
⸻
When you stop making it about YOU…
and start making it about the GAME and your TEAM…
Everything changes.
⚡ You play freer
⚡ You react instead of think
⚡ Your skills finally show up
⸻
You don’t need to be perfect.
You just need to be present.
And that’s when your game shows up.
Every hitter I've coached who struggles..
Tends to have the same problem.
They have the tools.
They look great in the cage.
Then the game starts and something's off..
They bail on swings they crush in BP.
They second-guess.
They look like a different hitter.
It's not mechanics.
Not strength.
Not lack of reps.
It's one thing.
The thing that separates the hitter that's feared
Versus the hitter that gets attacked.
The thing that you can see from a mile away.
That one word? Conviction.
Trusting your swing.
Your plan.
And yourself.
No hesitation. No hoping.
Pitchers sense it.
Coaches see it.
The hitter who has it looks unshakable.
And ready to make someone pay.
Send this to a hitter who needs to hear it.
Save it for when you need it.
(And make sure you're following)
looking forward to part of Nadal’s Netflix documentary when he explains how he won his 14th French Open (2022) before the match even started by freaking out Casper Ruud with the most unnecessarily intense prematch warmup in the hallway before they walk out
Bedtimes are one of the best opportunities for parents to connect with their kids
As kids wind down, their nervous systems are calmer & they are are more receptive to what you have to say
This is a great time to talk about important concepts like gratitude, kindness & mindset
Kids who get consistent 1-on-1 time before bed have better mental health & stronger bonds with parents
This is one habit you will both be happier for building
"Hitters who hit more, hit more."
I strongly disagree.
Some of the hardest workers I've coached under-perform (compared to the work they put in)
I was one of them.
It's the mental side.
- Anxious.
- Nervous.
- You care so much it works against you.
I remember shaking in the box because I wanted to be so good.
It wasn't fear of the competition.
I just cared too much
I didn't need more reps.
I needed to train winning.
I needed to focus on scoring runs.
I needed to stop thinking about ME and start thinking about scoring runs for MY TEAM.
When you shift your focus from yourself to YOUR TEAM, your energy transfers.
That's when the swing you worked your butt off, shows up.
