Yes... it is our role as trustees in the Education Act to promote student achievement and well-being... to promote a positive school climate... to promote the prevention of bullying and deliver effective and appropriate educational programs.. @tdsb@RobinPilkey@malloy_john
TDSB will still teach students about gender identity and safe internet use - despite the changes to the sex-ed curriculum.

🏫 Don’t skip the bottom of the ballot. Eight Ontario school boards are run by provincial supervisors and trustees have less say. Local voices in education matter more than ever.

"There's just nothing more important, I believe, to build a civil society than public education."
Shelley Laskin TDSB's longest-serving active trustee won't seek re-election. As she prepares to step away, she has a message for those who will follow her.

NEW: In his first year running Ontario's largest school board, the Ford government's TDSB supervisor logged more than twice as many meetings with the board's $20B real estate arm than he did with parent groups, calendar entries reveal.
The FOI records offer a rare glimpse into the supervisor’s day-to-day work, raising concerns that parents have taken a back seat under provincial supervision. Story: https://t.co/x6ey8jPGqo
In such a difficult day today, I thought I’d start it with something beautiful and quite phenomenal.
Twice a year the sky over Israel fills with this. Hundreds of millions of birds, the eastern Mediterranean flyway, coming down the valley at sunset on the way between Europe and Africa.
There is nowhere else on that route where the land narrows like this, so they gather until the air looks solid.
Someone in the video says a special soul must live here. The people of Israel do.
The birds have been taking this road longer than any of the arguments about the land below it. Playgrounds, parked cars, a man filming off the roof of his street. It’s an ordinary evening.
One of the most beautiful things you will ever see, and it happens here, on schedule, whether anyone is watching or not.
Three years ago Hamas terrorists launched a premeditated slaughter of innocent Israeli citizens, unleashing an explosion of violent antisemitism worldwide. As we remember the victims of 10/7, we must all recommit to confronting anti-Jewish hate wherever it appears.
Today, we’re celebrating educators and all the ways they support learners and make a difference in their lives every day. 💙
Happy World Teachers’ Day from all of us at OISE and JICS – with a little help from @De6rasse!
On Sept 30, we wear orange to honour Survivors and remember the children who never came home. In schools, reconciliation starts with learning the truth and grows through action, respect, and reflection.

Last spring, Doug Ford’s government seized control of the TDSB, promising to rein in wasteful spending, improve test scores and restore order to public education. A year and a half later, teachers are angry, trustees are powerless and students are floundering

One week ago, our City was shaken by a hate-motivated attack targeting Belleville’s Jewish community at the Sons of Jacob Synagogue.
In the days since, we have seen the very best of Belleville. We have seen our community come together during a time of great difficulty, an outpouring of gratitude and recognition for Constables Jeff Smith and Mike McCurdy and all of the first responders who answered the call that night, and unwavering support for our Jewish community.
As we reflect on the events of last Sunday and the impact they have had on our city, we are clear that there is no place for antisemitism, hate or violence in Belleville. Everyone deserves to feel safe in our community and in their place of worship. We stand firmly with Belleville’s Jewish community and all those who have been impacted by this horrific act of hate.
Constables Jeff Smith and Mike McCurdy are true heroes who showed extraordinary courage that night. They put themselves in harm’s way, saving the lives of many and preventing an unimaginable tragedy. We are incredibly proud and grateful to have them serving our community. Our thoughts remain with Constable Smith and his family as he begins his road to recovery from the serious injuries he sustained in the line of duty.
In the face of hate and violence, Belleville responded with compassion, strength and unity. We looked out for one another, stood together and showed what it means to be a community.
To Belleville’s Jewish community, Constables Smith and McCurdy, our first responders and everyone impacted: Belleville stands with you. ❤️
Amira and I disagree on many things, but this is a principled statement of solidarity, the kind that used to be common, but which many find difficult to make these days. I speak only for myself in accepting her words with gratitude.
@JoshMatlow@rchernoslin I’m very proud of my role in the @TDSB_HodgsonMS rebuild since first approved in 2017 even though the province prohibited staff from formally inviting or acknowledging us.
