Apart from the breathtaking cruelty, the octopus farm could consume 50,000 tons of wild fish annually, equivalent to the entire catch of some West African nations.

Fisheries/Aquaculture policies based on activist agendae, rather than expert evidence-based policy making, won't save wild salmon. Why don't decision makers understand this? We must have a corrupt system in 🇨🇦, or else decision makers are not taking their own science advice?

Sunday Morning Musings: Many of us aquaculture proponents are perplexed at how viciously and untruthfully net pens are maligned - and how activists, against this essential aquatic resource conservation tool, have gained so much traction in North America. Here are some thoughts. Yours? #aquaculture #salmon #foroceanssake

Aquaculture stimulates economies, especially in rural coastal areas. It’s not only about growing fish to feed people; it’s about thriving communities and sustainable development. 🏡💼

Sunday Morning Musings: A boldface lie. No other way to state it. There is NO relation between wild salmon populations and net pens. None. And they also don't kill baby orcas (that one takes the cake!). Cut it out! #aquaculture#salmon#nofarmsnofood

This is a quote from a while ago. Not sure who the author was, but it still holds for today in US and Canada despite the activist fearmongering otherwise. Data over dogma shows that organic discharge is not a significant contributor and easily processed by the ocean, and any chemicals that may get used have gone through a regulatory environmental gauntlet. And: NO - farmed fish do not spread diseases to the wild. Peer-reviewed papers on that are all elaborate normative science sophistries put out by activists with vested interests. #aquaculture #salmon #dataoverdogma

WA Dept. of Natural Resources cancels net pens because of allegations of organic loading which does things like "smothers eel grass"??? Monitoring and data from 4 decades say otherwise. As does experience in other parts of the world. Your justifications don't hold water (or significantly affect it!). #aquaculture #salmon #corruption #whatsreallygoingon
