I literally said Allies, not "America alone." It's odd that your response was to erase the American contribution entirely. The liberation of Western Europe was an Allied effort that included Britain, Canada, Australia, the U.S., Free France, Poland, and others. You don't honor one ally's sacrifice by pretending another's didn't matter.

The Soviet Union bore an immense burden on the Eastern Front, and the Western Allies paid a tremendous price opening and sustaining the Western Front. Dismissing the sacrifices of any of those servicemembers does history a disservice.

@NealGardner_ No. It was a disappointing ending, but not a failed tournament. I can disagree with the political interference, congratulate Belgium on being the better team today, and still be proud of how the USMNT competed overall. Those things aren't mutually exclusive.

I didn't support political involvement in the tournament either. If FIFA handled this improperly, criticize FIFA. My concern is that too many people have used it as an excuse to attack ordinary Americans who had absolutely nothing to do with it. We shouldn't be judged by decisions we didn't make.
