Listen to me talk about XML sitemaps on the @techseowomenpod podcast and is also my first public speaking opportunity. Much thanks to @areej_abuali who was so incredibly kind and patient with nervous me! I'm too scared to listen to it but hopefully someone finds it useful🤞
Brand new #podcast episode went LIVE this morning 🥳
In this week's episode, we chat with @Shelliweb, Senior Technical #SEO at @DeepCrawl about all things XML #sitemaps 🙌

I'm so excited to be back at @brightonseo in October delivering the Python for SEO Data Analysis training course! I love helping others learn new skills and demystify things that other amazing people have taught me 💜 here's a link with more details https://t.co/IXRDSuAhxZ
Are there any case studies where reducing the URL length of ecommerce category URLs resulted in positive results SEO wise? think https://t.co/iOIlXVeSK3 to https://t.co/N47XwXJEE2 It looks cleaner but it doesn't sound worth the change?
@darth_na yes I wish we could rely on that 😢 Thank you for your help, i'm going to see if I can find any trends for which is currently chosen / preferred
@darth_na It may be possible but the question is whether to redirect to the longer or shorter version as Google keeps switching between them. Longer version is linked/in xml sitemaps but google choose shorter despite no referring URL information
@Adoubleagent I thought it might avoid confusion about which to index if the shorter version was the only one available in the longer term. But it's a big change to redirect all the longer versions.
@Adoubleagent Not crazy long IMO, one of the longest I can see at the moment is 196 characters including the domain name. Unfortunately, sometimes a category can be accessed by the shorter URL and sometimes Google chooses the shorter and sometimes it doesn't.
@MattTutt1 Thank you! I tried that earlier but your query was way better than mine so had more results to look at! However, I didn't find ecommerce websites there which is what I was hoping for, boooo
@JarnoVanDriel@jonoalderson It's so new I was curious how it's being added.
I wondered if you can add productGroup schema to a PDP that acts as a 'selector' (so no price & is invalid) that links off to variants of the product with prices. These versions are canonicalized to selector PDP, not great!
I haven’t logged on to play Xbox for a while, I’ll just play Baldurs Gate… needs an update… ok AC Mirage then, needs update… FINE let’s go for Fall Guys.. *scream*
Hullo! Been awhile Twitter / X folks, hope you're all well!
Just popping by to share this, had a brilliant time chatting crawling things with @okaylizzi & @methode!
