🚨 Support H.R. 6023 – Veteran Restitution and Justice Act of 2023 🚨

Our veterans who endured military sexual trauma (MST) have waited long enough. This bipartisan bill would ensure retroactive VA benefits dating back to the day after discharge—not the day a claim was filed.

Too many veterans delay filing because of stigma, trauma, or fear. They should not be punished for their pain. Justice delayed is justice denied.

Provides long-overdue financial relief for MST survivors

Restores trust in the system by honoring sacrifice

Recognizes the full weight of trauma veterans carry

During WWII, Major Griffin-McClendon served with the trailblazing 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. The famous “Six Triple Eight” was the only Women's Army Corps (WAC) predominantly all-black female battalion to serve in Europe during WWII. Their mission: to clear an overwhelming backlog of mail and boost the morale of servicemembers by reestablishing the connection between them and their loved ones—lifting spirits during the darkest days when it was needed most.

Today, Major Griffin-McClendon is the last living member of this extraordinary battalion that shattered barriers and proved, beyond question, the strength, resilience, and dedication of America’s military women.

At the Military Women’s Memorial, we are honored to preserve and share Major Griffin-McClendon's story of service in our National Register, which preserves more than 330,000 stories of service (and growing) of women, veterans and currently serving—and where Major Griffin-McClendon’s courage and impact will inspire generations to come.

Major, you are an inspiration. We salute you on your 105th birthday!

CSM (Ret) Patrick “Tad” Tadina — The Ranger Who Never Lost a Man

Do you know about CSM (Ret) Patrick Gavin “Tad” Tadina? He was a true American hero whose legacy continues to inspire.

CSM Tadina, who passed away on May 29, 2020, at the age of 77, was well known for his extraordinary service with the 173rd Airborne Brigade Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) during the Vietnam War. He was the longest-serving Ranger in Vietnam, leading small teams for five years behind enemy lines — and never lost a man under his command. That remarkable record stands as a testament to his leadership, courage, and skill.

His distinguished service was marked by incredible valor, earning:

2 Silver Stars

10 Bronze Stars (7 with “V” for Valor)

4 Army Commendation Medals (2 with “V” for Valor)

3 Purple Hearts

Over more than 30 years of service, CSM Tadina rose to the rank of Command Sergeant Major, shaping and mentoring generations of soldiers. His name stands tall in Army Ranger and LRRP history as a warrior who led with honor and lived by example.

Rest in peace, CSM Tadina. 🇺🇸
