Coming to @scrippsresearch Chemical Synthesis class in Winter ’25.
Congrats to Dylan and Stephen for their method to glycosylate cotylenol and access 14-3-3 protein-client molecular glues! https://t.co/oyBP8aF1NH
Donor linker design was aided by Stephen’s “autoDFT” and solved a common problem in terpenoid synthesis: contrasteric glycosylation.
In this paper, 3rd year graduate student 李春雨 (Chunyu Li) synthesized 25 natural products (!!) using a method of in silico library selection. Chunyu is a new type of student in our lab, having seamlessly blended calculation and synthesis.

Meet Stephan Freeman, #ARCSScholar@Shenvi_Lab@scrippsresearch where he is helping to develop new tools to access ‘natural product space,’ compounds typified by cellular metabolites. Stephan will be honored at our 2024 SOY Celebration in April. More info:

I feel very honored to be recognized with this Rising Star Award. It would not have been possible without help from fantastic students, postdocs, collaborators, and colleagues.
Ever wanted 3 grams of (–)-humulene oxide II?
Neither did we. But OrgSyn came knocking and we couldn’t say no.

Thanks for checking, @sarah_reisman and Emily Chen!
#tbt Original gram-scale protocol in our JACS 2014 16788 paper.
Scripps Research chemists Ryan Shenvi and Guanghu Tong in the @Shenvi_Lab have modified the traditional poison picrotoxinin, significantly improving its stability and safety for potential neurological drugs, pesticides and anti-parasite treatments. https://t.co/mu3EUQ5Dqh
📢 *Calling all budding chemical biologist* Consider applying to the Program in Chemical Biology
@UMich
for your PhD!! Please reach out with any questions about this exceptional program.
#2: Had a blast collaborating with @BaranLabReads. Felt like old times. https://t.co/vR03bpFUVs
We report a single catalyst that quaternizes 3° radicals derived from RAEs or olefins. Very simple conditions: iron, reductant, base.
2 papers posted today. #1 reports heterodimerization of benzyl radicals, generated and coupled by a single catalyst. https://t.co/hXcZj6KtQz
The iron complex engages an alkene in two outer-sphere steps, in contrast to inner-sphere steps of precious metals.
Congrats to the team!
On today's episode, I am joined by @Shenvi_Lab of @scrippsresearch! We talk natural product synthesis, metal-hydride hydrogen atom transfer, the large overlap between writing music and organic synthesis, and much more.
Spread the word! Come be our colleague!
Scripps Chemistry is searching for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor with a focus on organic chemistry and synthesis, broadly defined.
Fall fashions have arrived. Inner-sphere is out, outer-sphere is in.
A new @ACSPublications Accounts from @__simonalisa__ summarizes our group's development of first-row metal catalysis to enable fragment coupling en route to bioactive natural products. https://t.co/FmZEGqU9Hw
Hi everyone! My PhD defense will be taking place this Thursday, October 12th at 9am PST. If you're interested in tuning in, you can find the zoom link below: https://t.co/nYkbxSoUXc
