I know this may not be popular with some people, but not everyone's "why" is changing the world.
I am not putting down those who focus on purpose or helping people find their why.
I understand it.
We want people to stay focused.
We want people to make a difference.
We want people to feel connected to something bigger than themselves. That's important.
But I also think we assume "why" means the same thing to everyone.
For some people, their why is serving others.
For some, it's making a difference.
For some, it's leaving a positive impact on the world.
Those are all worthy pursuits. And yes in recent years more of my pursuit.
But for many people, their why looks a little different.
Taking care of their family.
Paying the mortgage.
Putting food on the table.
Giving their children opportunities they never had.
Showing up every day and doing their best at a career so the people they love can have a good life.
That's not a lesser purpose.
That's a pretty important one.
In fact, I would argue that most people don't struggle to find their why. They struggle to live it.
It's hard to focus on your why when you're worried about paying bills. Or working 2 or 3 jobs to survive.
It's hard to stay connected to your purpose when you're exhausted, overwhelmed, and stretched thin.
And in education, it's hard to stay focused on why you entered the profession when so much of your time is spent on things that often feel disconnected from it.
Standardized testing.
Student behavior.
Endless initiatives.
More programs.
More paperwork.
Most educators didn't enter this profession because they were passionate about compliance, testing, or the latest initiative.
They entered because they wanted to make a difference in the lives of children.
Maybe people don't need to remember their why.
Maybe they haven't forgotten it at all.
Maybe they simply need fewer obstacles standing between them and it.
Today is our nations Memorial Day. Enjoy your day and take a moment to remember the true meaning of this day. A day to pay our respects to all those who have given their lives in our country's defense. God bless these brave heroes and their families.
Teachers are getting assaulted over cell phones.
This is not a battle teachers should have to fight alone. Administrators or security should handle these situations.
Teachers are there to teach, not constantly manage behavior crises.
Attitude is a choice.
Gratitude is a discipline.
Bitterness is expensive.
Nobody accidentally has a great attitude.
Nobody stumbles into gratitude.
And nobody means to end up bitter, it just quietly moves in when you stop choosing something better.
Guard your peace like it cost you something.
Because it did.
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) #Alaska
We are a nation undergirded by prayer to the God of the Bible. On this National Day of Prayer, let us call on His name—as our founders before us did—and ask for His protection and favor over America.
Can I tell you something I really need you to hear?
Before your first mistake. Before you ever felt like you weren't enough. God already wrote your story.
And yet we walk around calling ourselves a mess. Defined by our failures. Convinced we're too broken.
But you are His masterpiece — not because of anything you've done, but because of what He did.
God doesn't make mistakes.
You are proof.
If you think teachers have it easy, you’re in luck. America is currently short more than 400,000 teachers. Give it a try! 😏
Or give subbing a try…to get a taste.
Most people were taught Darwin’s theory of evolution explains how all life came to be.
What if that’s not the full story?
Stephen C. Meyer says growing evidence is challenging that idea, and many scientists are now calling for a new theory of evolution.
“There’s a huge difference between the idea that natural selection is a real process… and the claim that it has unlimited creative power.”
“Many leading evolutionary biologists today are now calling for a new theory of evolution.”
“They recognize that the mutation natural selection mechanism has limited creative power.”
“It does a nice job of explaining small-scale variation and adaptation.”
“But it doesn’t do a good job of explaining… major new body plans or new forms.”

There should be a teacher on every school board…
and at every table where education decisions are made.
Because right now, we’re making policies for classrooms
without the people who actually live in them.
You wouldn’t design a hospital system without doctors.
You wouldn’t build a plane without pilots.
But in education…
we leave teachers out of the room
NEW: Principal Kirk Moore surprises his students at prom after getting shot while disarming a school shooter.
Moore was seen being crowned as ‘Prom King’ at Pauls Valley High School in Oklahoma.
Just 10 days earlier, Moore heroically charged at a school shooter and was able to stop him from harming any students. Moore was shot in the leg.
The shooter reportedly said he intended to kill students, faculty members, Moore and himself.
Thanks to principal Moore, that didn’t happen.
