Speak up already!
I remember this moment as if it had happened yesterday. there were about 20 or more of us in the room, about 15 subject matter experts and my team of instructional designers and our project manager.
We let the room settle after I’d asked a leading question.
Has there ever been a time when your extroverted or introverted voice has impacted a specific interaction?Feel free to share it in the comments.
Message me if you’d like to find out more about my writing services for social impact.
Today on my LI Wednesday Reveals series, I share the story of my mother telling my 19-year-old self that writing was not a career, that I could do it when I got older. Funny thing is, I've been writing my entire career. #careerpaths#whatsyourstory#writingservices
I worked in several very cool places and learned a lot. I left some of these on my own accord. And some departures were not by choice.
It was the economy’s. And that was hard.
But I became stronger for those experiences, and I moved on to better opportunities.
The more you write, the more you evolve organically as a writer, and you're taken in directions you may not have planned. This is only part of the adventure; the other half is when you share your work. It's a wild, wild ride.
1. Your goal should never be to get too comfortable.
2.Challenges are always opportunities.
3. Consider what you could do that you couldn’t do before, given whatever constraints were associated with that job, marriage, living condition, way of eating, etc.
It took me a long time to get totally unstuck.
This is because I needed to live the lives I did before I got here. And where I am now is an accumulation of where I’ve been.
The funny thing is that most of the time I didn’t know I was stuck.
In recent years I did start to feel somewhat stuck, but it took the end of a multi-year contract and back surgery to break my “dependence” on regular employment.
