🚫 SCAM ALERT! DON'T FALL FOR IT! 🚫
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has received a high volume of calls today regarding aggressive phone scams targeting our residents.
Scammers are calling community members and impersonating our deputies. They falsely claim that you have missed federal jury duty, have an active warrant for your arrest, or owe fines. They threaten you with immediate arrest unless you make a payment right away.
Please don't fall for it! Pass this information along to your neighbors, friends, and family.
This Memorial Day, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office pauses to honor the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.
Sheriff Darren Weekly and members of his command staff attended Memorial Day ceremonies across Douglas County…from Castle Rock to Sedalia to Highlands Ranch...standing alongside our community to remember and pay tribute to our fallen heroes.
Today, we remember those who gave everything for our nation and honor the families who carry their legacy forward every day.
We will never forget.
Interested in giving back to your community? Do you have a passion for working with those impacted by trauma? Do you want to help victims get their voice back? We invite you to consider volunteering with our Victim Assistance Unit.
Our Advocates respond to major crimes and unexpected deaths to help victims and their family members begin to pick up the pieces by providing emotional support, information, and resources/referrals. Advocates are also liaisons between the victim and the Sheriff’s Office for what can be a new and stressful journey. Volunteer Advocates work alongside staff who are just as passionate about supporting victims and their families.
This is what one of our volunteers had to say: “Being a Victim Advocate for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office allows me the opportunity to give back to my community while serving the people who live here. I always feel it is an honor and a privilege to be in a family’s presence during these initial moments of disbelief, fear, and helplessness. It always seems there is a moment when things become calm, and you sense everything will be OK with time. I leave hoping I touched their life as meaningfully as they touch mine.”
If you are interested in joining our team, please give us a call at 303-660-7535. We will schedule a time to meet with you regarding this opportunity and determine together if this role is right for you. #Volunteer #DCSO #HonorServiceValor

.@GovofCO Brandin Kreuzer SHOT A COP and nearly killed him. How dare you minimize his heinous crimes.
I have spoken with both officers involved, and they are absolutely furious, as am I. The audacity of @GovofCO to grant clemency to a would-be cop killer on National Peace Officers Memorial Day shows a complete lack of respect for the brave men and women who wear the badge and put their lives on the line every day. I personally worked on this case and remember what it took to track these two suspects down. I will have more to say in the coming days.
Thanks to our prosecutors & law partners, another sexual predator is being held accountable. Former Dougco teacher David Feil was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual exploitation of a child involving multiple elementary school students. #Justice
There are moments that change a community forever, and people whose courage we carry with us long after they’re gone.
Today marks seven years since the tragic events at STEM School Highlands Ranch. We remember Kendrick Castillo and the selfless bravery he showed in protecting others.
We continue to honor his legacy, the lives impacted, and the strength that carries our community forward. #STEMSTRONG
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Darren Weekly were honored to stand alongside agencies from across the state today at the Colorado Law Enforcement Memorial.
It was a solemn and moving ceremony as we gathered to pay our respects to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We remember their courage, their dedication to protecting our communities, and the lasting legacy they leave behind. To the families of our fallen heroes: we stand with you, today and every day. We will never forget.

⚠️Scam Alert: Fake Detentions Payment Calls Increasing
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeing an increase in scam calls reported through our Detentions Lobby. Callers are posing as members of our office and demanding payment for things like a pre-trial ankle monitor or a booking/bond fee.
In many cases, victims are told to send money immediately using apps such as CashApp, Apple Pay, or Venmo. Unfortunately, some individuals have already made payments before contacting us to verify the call.
We want to be very clear: The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will never call you to demand payment over the phone. We will not ask for money through gift cards, prepaid debit cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or payment apps.
Scammers rely on fear and urgency to pressure people into acting quickly. These calls may even appear legitimate, as caller ID information can be spoofed to display our name or phone number.
If you receive one of these calls:
Hang up immediately.
Do not provide any personal or financial information.
Do not send money.
Here’s your Douglas County Sheriff’s Office crew when they were little, back when the biggest decisions were what game to play and what snack to eat. Fast forward and those same kids grew up to answer calls, solve cases, support the community, and keep everything running behind the scenes. Different roles, one purpose—serving something bigger than themselves 💙
