“This study shows that playing an open-world game, such as The The Legend of Zelda & nostalgia evoked by Studio Ghibli films… ultimately contribute positively to one’s overall happiness in life.” https://t.co/7xgelmnCUe
@DrPhil14 It was truly an honor to be on Food Secure Nation and speak with you and Gerry.
I am so grateful for all the good work you continue to do, in and out of DC, to address food security and support families and communities in Michigan and around the country. Thank you.
Listen to Food Secure Nation on Spotify for Creators https://t.co/te23bmLITY @Sheril_ is our guest and the show is packed with insights and thought provoking ideas of how we can build a food secure nation. #food#foodsecurity#hunger#America
Just finished #Pluribus & found it a thoughtful exploration of humanity, loneliness, love & individualism vs a collective hive mind.
At a time when so many programs feel the same, this series asks questions in ways I rarely experience.
I’m interested to hear what others think.
Most know me for work in science & policy but my other major was classical history.
I view the present through this lens, understanding the map is always changing.
Only by studying the humanities - that so many dismiss - can we learn from our past & chart a more hopeful future.
The government shutdown is now the longest in U.S. history.

So why does the 21st disruption of federal funding since 1976 feel... normal?
Jane Goodall, one of my greatest heroes, has passed away. How lucky we were to read her books and learn from her wisdom about our place on Earth. She was an inspiration to me and countless others. And her memory is a blessing.
As I conclude my IAF fellowship, I’m deeply grateful to @SenGaryPeters & his brilliant, thoughtful team. I will miss working with them tremendously.
Thanks also to @CFR_org for the chance to serve during such a pivotal moment in our nation’s history.
Not sure who needs to hear this, but #science cuts don’t just affect researchers.
They ripple out to the food we eat, the air we breathe, the safety of our water, and our health.
This is personal for you. Me. All of us.
America didn’t become a superpower by playing it safe. We did it by funding the impossible & believing that today’s basic research would become tomorrow’s transformative technology.
That choice made us the most innovative, prosperous nation in history. https://t.co/pPRvyaowzY
When disinformation is labeled as science to manipulate and mislead the public, it erodes trust and hinders progress.
In this moment, it’s vital that we demand evidence over ideology. Science will only continue to serve the public if we defend its principles. /2
When data is cherry-picked to support a political narrative, it stops being science and becomes propaganda.
Science is a process - a method for pursuing deeper understanding, not for validating fringe theories. /1
"To make scientific voices more impactful in policymaking, scientists will need to get to know Congress."
In a new @ISSUESinST article, @Sheril_ discusses challenges to promoting science on the Hill and suggests ways to enhance #SciencePolicy engagement: https://t.co/msJ0vDgIkW
@PrasadKasibhat1 Big picture, yes. So we must figure out how to convey that. And more importantly, we need to convince scientists coming to do advocacy on the Hill that they should visit house Republican offices. I don’t think many of them are.
3 takeaways from my research:
1 - Not 1 staffer said they’d turn to scientists first on #science related questions.
2 - Party leadership, lobbyists & friends have more influence than studies.
3 - Scientists sideline themselves if they only engage w Ds. https://t.co/CdxUaU2yEc
