NATIONAL UPDATE: Former President Rodrigo Duterte has boarded a plane bound for the Hague, Netherlands, to be extradited to the International Criminal Court (ICC) following his arrest earlier today.
The surrender came after Duterte was served a warrant of arrest upon his arrival from Hong Kong in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) earlier this morning pursuant to issuance of the ICC arrest warrant.
Duterte is now scheduled for a hearing before the Pre-Trial Chamber in the Hague once Duterte's custody is officially transferred to Dutch authorities.
In the document received by the Malacañang Palace dated March 7, former president Duterte faces legal charges for his alleged crimes against humanity conducted during his administration’s "war on drugs" campaign. The warrant lists the establishment of the Davao Death Squad and his authorization and promotion of killings against suspected criminals, among other violations, as grounds for his arrest.
Subsequently, Duterte and Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa filed a petition to the Supreme Court earlier today to prevent government cooperation with the ICC, arguing that the latter has no jurisdiction over the Philippines following Duterte's withdrawal of the country from the Rome Statute in 2019.

The following former and active PNP officials are now considered as suspects in the ICC case against Duterte:
1. Bato dela Rosa;
2. Oscar Albayalde;
3. Romeo Caramat Jr.;
4. Edilberto Leonardo; and
5. Eleazar Mata
(See ICC order below)
We have submitted to the ICC this video wherein Duterte publicly admitted that he used the Confidential/Intelligence funds to conduct EJKs on his constituents in Davao city when he was still a mayor. This is truly an open-and-shut case.
