@RMB Here are some notes from others that I found interesting:

and
Many VCs just try to find the next Unicorn

@RMB You're right. It could be useful in some areas. But it's not always an indicator of how a startup is profitable or sustainable. It's highly sensitive to ambient metrics like VC ecosystem, valuation bubble & market situation. I also respect your view but we may disagree here :)
@RMB Your point about immigrants is valid. I just don't see a benefit in measuring the growth or health of the startup ecosystem with "number of unicorn founders." Hope it's clarified. ✌🏻
Game-field or game-view?
Low probability (yet impactful) events are already in the game-field. We just shrink our game-view, to achieve a "clear view".
How?
Mental biases. Blind statistics. Loving the average!
How Not?
Rethink likelihoods. Reevaluate impacts. Realign goals.
I know usually no one looks at UN voting results this way, but it's just notable that representatives of almost 52% of world population voted against or abstained from voting for the resolution today.

@ndahlberg@matthaggman@refreshmiami No one talks about these issues unless someone connected to money is stuck. A good percentage of Miami talent are [student] immigrants who can't properly get engaged with the job market due to immigration system. I hope @harryhurst 's problem moves the needle, for him and all.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Sir Ken Robinson died peacefully yesterday, 21st August 2020, surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.
We will be following up with a further update as we begin to follow Sir Ken’s wishes and honour his legacy.
Racism is the use of the law of large numbers (and scaling) in the opposite direction, by attributing presumed population traits to single individuals.
