@ShadowTheEdgyX I'll probably buy the remake, mostly for the new world and the Origins port bundled in. But if someone doesn't find worth in what the release has, they shouldn't buy it for a hypothetical (that if I'm being frank, I don't think is happening either way).
People don't get that this is exactly how Ubisoft wants you to think, they're holding a franchise hostage and telling you "give us your money and MAYBE we'll make a new game!"
But this gives them no reason to make a new game, they're taking your money regardless!
If y'all want Rayman 4 as bad as you say you do then you better support this and not shove it away just because it's a remaster
This is ubisoft testing to see if they should even invest in rayman again and they're pretty strict so LOCK IN FELLAS!!!
@ShadowTheEdgyX I totally understand why they're doing this from a business and even logstic standpoint, I just fundamentally disagree with the decision as a consumer.
Ultimately my point isn't the millionth "Ubisoft bad" comment, it's to say the argument of "buy this for the next one" is dumb.
@ShadowTheEdgyX I don't think the "introducing to a new audience" argument works here. For something like, say, Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe, yeah that's justified even with a similarly short gap time because the game wasn't accessible on modern hardware. But Legends is on everything rn.
@ShadowTheEdgyX I didn't state it was ransom, but I am saying Ubisoft won't OWE us a new game if people buy this one, company statements like these usually go nowhere. They sometimes do, but it's VERY rare.
Even if plans do go through, that'll leave this remake as a weak stopgap in hindsight.
@ShadowTheEdgyX ...but they could've started with a new game.
Legends sold 5M+ units, they KNOW the interest is there. Let's be honest, the only real reason is that Ubisoft is in a bad spot financially and chose the safest Rayman-thing to do imaginable, at the cost of it being pointless.
@TheJoshMan07 Not to side with Arlo since I do disagree with most of his arguments, but I'm in the camp of disliking Mario Kart World's new decisions from thinking they're either messy or a mismatch to prior games' appeals. And to that end, I haven't seen enough improvement via updates.
@JustANumbSkull The first two definitely, but Fire and Ice, while def a licenced tie-in, also feels like it tried to be an actual standalone game. And I think it mostly succeeds.
Y'know I've seen clipfarming for almost every Sonic game, but I've NEVER seen people time attack Boom Fire and Ice
And y'know what? I kinda like it. There is a dependence on the Homing Attack but it actually works cause there's no endlag to it, chaining it into dashes is fun!
I'll go further: Rayman has had a VERY fulfilling life. 5 main games, all being well liked and the latter 2 being rightfully beloved.
This goes for any dormant franchise: I get wanting a new game, I'd love one too, but we should also enjoy what's there and look beyond the series
If Legends Retold does not look worth it to you, if you already have your fill from owning OG Legends and none of the additions or changes entice you... don't buy it! Supporting a multi-billion dollar company for a hypothetical is NOT worth it, ya gotta let go of that attachment.
@ChrisSullyOffic Freezes water, the swap mechanic is extremely arbitrary and context-sensitive, but uhh it occasionally has neat reaction challenges built around it
Details on Rayman Legends Retold from a Ubisoft blog post
Confirms the Rayman Origins port is bundled in with no standalone purchase (they couldn't be bothered to mention it in the trailer π)

@Antony312dibujo Not even, Crash 4 was a pretty significant redesign. This meanwhile is the same core appearance except with cartoony touches minimized to fit a more detailed and "realistic"(?) style.
It's closer to Crash N-Sane remakes, which I have WAY more of a problem with tbh
@MustacheDLuffy I wouldn't mind if we saw a smidge of revisionism, and yea it's a shame this had to be tied to the Boom brand, the game sold abysmally from what I'm aware of.
@RustleWolfie Would be more than happy if Sanzaru made more conventional speed-platformers for the Sonic series, cause Fire and Ice is pretty decent and showed significant improvement from Shattered Crystal. Stuff like this is great as casual-friendly Sonic games.
