@Kenjis9965@KenAshcorp i grabbed a 14,000 btu homcom unit, it does heat + cool, the whole "no drain" thing only really works in low humidity environments, both the ac's i have supposedly are no drain required but definately need the drain tube haha
@Kenjis9965@KenAshcorp in germany people are getting the portasplit for around 555 euro (481gbp), the cheapest i've seen it here in uk is 899 for the 12,000 btu model from appliances direct.
@Kenjis9965@KenAshcorp units like the midea portasplit will run as low as 42DB which is barely louder than some fridge freezers, you can also find stuff like the gasbye, both are available in uk but are marked up massively here compared to other countries like the us / germany
@miaaowing thats actually hilariously smart, i respect it. will you post a guide for what you did so others can take a look? i'd be curious to see how things are working for you :)
@miaaowing theres a company you can order custom cut plastic sheets from, i used them to do my window seal and used some 3d printed adapters for mounting hoses / creating a new panel for the intake side of the AC, think it was https://t.co/B70aNJrgXp, they ship from netherlands
@miaaowing based and real, i just diddnt wanna fuck my warranty so fast after the first AC i bought came defective lol, you gonna convert it to dual hose? it helps a fair bit
@authAmeri@salingergregor i made a post earlier also showing how expensive a good portable unit is here, check this out.
the exact same unit price in america vs uk. the markups over here are insanely bad, single hose units are still just as expensive with the downside of performing worse.
@authAmeri@salingergregor cost of replacing a window is over 500 quid (700 usd) its not as simple as people make out, saying this as someone that designed a panel to mount in my window and a conversion kit to convert my portable AC to dual hose
we have a massive accessability issue for good ac here sadly
@PlantRulz@KenAshcorp if you look at the uk market for airconditioners, we dont really have dual hose AC units commonly available. theres currently 2 on amazon you can purchase and they are marked up about 2-4X the cost vs america.
