Don't know what would happen immediately. This is my view for months and years to come.
It would no longer be a unipolar world headed by US.
The world would be multipolar predominantly lead by USA, Russia, China and India.
NATO may not survive in the current form. US is shocked that European countries are not allowing it's war planes over their air space and not allowing to use their bases.
European countries want to develop their own security and defence.
Saudi King, a strong ally of USA was hugely humiliated by Trump last week. Gulf countries are realising that the huge money they keep giving every year to US for their security is of no use.
Iran would be a significant beneficiary of this conflict. Gulf countries would forge a working relationship with Iran where Iran might get paid for taking responsibility of Gulf's security.
US is a big loser. Trump would claim victory just for face saving. The reality is Strait of Hormuz was not under Iran's control till last month. Now Hormuz and red sea through Houthis are controlled by Iran. Iran would benefit from international trade and would use that money to rebuild the country.
US is not able to get the Uranium held by Iran. Iran may now seriously think of developing nuclear weapon. If it does, entire West Asia and gulf region would be under Iran's influence.
After two decades of trying to finish Taliban, US left Afghanistan without any success. Taliban got replaced by Taliban. Regime could not be changed by US.
In Iran, Ali Khamenei got replaced by Mojtaba Khamenei. Here too no regime change. Khamenei got replaced by Khamenei. The current leaders are more hardliners than the ones killed by US.
Major military powers of China, Russia and India are now aware of the weakness and limitations of US defence. These three are on par with US and better than it certain aspects.
Taiwan would have realised America would be of no use if China decides to capture it. Taiwan would try to reach some kind of understanding with China.
Israel is another big loser. They used to enjoy empathy across the globe. Over the years, Israel's overconsuming hatred have alienated their sympathisers. Even American public are now against Israel.
Instead of ending the war now, if US and Israel try ground invasion of Iran, they would suffer immense casualities. The war may prolong but the outcome would be much more bad for US and Israel.
US and Israel now stands completely isolated. From tariff tantrums to abusing world leaders including allies and trying to claim Canada as 51 st state, trying to capture Greenland from European allies, threatening Norway for Nobel prize, and now a failed war with Iran, the world including USA's long term allies neither fear nor respect America anymore.
America would continue to be a powerful country. But it would no longer be able to control the world or have the same influence it had since world war two.
@Wassim_B12@LAFadhel I bought the device in India and now I am in UK. When everyone says people in UK got the update, is the location/network specific or model region specific?
You learn during bear markets and earn during bull markets. Learning is essential for earning.
Experiencing bear markets, though painful, is an essential part of wealth creation.
You buy more shares and units in bear markets and realise better value for them in bull markets.
Wealth is actually created in bear markets and the value is realised in bull markets.
Bear markets are graduation ceremony for new investors. Don't fail the test.
This too shall pass.
There's a lot of talk of stopping SIP in midcaps, of saying I told you so, etc.
Folks, this is a 10-20% dip in the markets. This has always been normal, and should be expected. Yes, some small caps will hurt a lot, so will some large caps. This seems like strong selling, some of it illogical, some of it reasoned. I don't think recommending blind selling or not investing at this time is a great idea.
You will find it painful but this is one of those times to hold through, and if the companies you own have good fundamentals, low debt, are in a growing industry, then markets will allow them sunshine eventually. But you have to live through the darkness to see the dawn. Sell if you can't handle the volatility, of course, markets often transfer returns from those who couldn't, to those who can. And yes, sell to rebalance - it doesn't matter if the stocks are falling, cos whatever you want to buy is falling too.
Much as I pontificate, the pain for those that are seeing this for the first time is real, and the only thing I can say is that you have to live through it.
Don't get rattled by bear markets. An occasional fall of 20% or more by markets are very normal. That's how they have been functioning from time immemorial. Wealth is created across market cycles. Ups and downs are not bugs but features of stock market.
I've no ability to predict markets. But I do know that gut wrenching falls happen periodically. This pain too will pass eventually. While it lasts, it is natural to feel gloomy and pessimistic. But don't let pessimism overtake you. It is optimists who create wealth in markets. Bull markets are thrilling and bear markets are killing. It would always be so. But wealth is created by those who stay across market cycles.
Capacity to suffer is essential for wealth creation. Infact capacity to suffer is essential for any meaningful achievement in life. The emotional pain you are going through now is part of wealth creation process. Good times would come again. Just that some times wait can be long. Need to live with it. That's how fortunes are created in stock markets.
Listen to John Bogle:
“Stay the course. No matter what happens stick to your program. I've said stay the course a thousand times and I meant it every time. It is the most important single piece of investment wisdom I can give to you.”
"After the initial euphoria has passed, there is so much unhappiness, so much pain in intimate relationships. They do not cause pain and unhappiness. They bring out the pain and unhappiness that is already in you." - Eckhart Tolle
Right or wrong is a never ending debate. And medically it is proven to be wrong. But the fact is liquor is becoming part of social life, both for men and women. Liquor can only be regulated and awareness can be created for moderate consumption. More and more people are opting for liquor, that too they want premium high quality stuff. I'm a teetotaller. But as an investor, I keep my ears close to the ground.
BJP is not against liquor. They would prefer you consume what is made in India. Jokes apart, Yogi's liquor policy is considered as one of the best in India. Culturally BJP is not against liquor or for banning it. A day will come when liquor would be freely available all over the country including Gujarat.
“People start being interested in something because it's going up, not because they understand it or anything else. But the guy next door, who they know is dumber than they are, is getting rich and they aren't. And their spouse is saying can't you figure it out too? It is so contagious. So that's a permanent part of the system." - Warren Buffett
Long term is good. But giving target for Indian economy for 2072 is mere fantasy. At best, the maximum we can see is 10 years. This itself is a very optimistic projection.
🚨BREAKING: THE COUP IS OVER | WAGNER’S RETREATING
This official statement from Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner group and the leader of this coup, says it all. I don't think anyone expected this:
"They were going to dismantle PMC Wagner. We came out on 23 June to the March of Justice. In a day, we walked to nearly 200km away from Moscow. In this time, we did not spill a single drop of blood of our fighters. Now, the moment has come when blood may spill. That’s why, understanding the responsibility for spilling Russian blood on one of the sides, we are turning back our convoys and going back to field camps according to the plan."
The President of Belarus, Lukashenko, has been in talks with Prigozhin all day and has taken credit for the peace agreement.
Prigozhin accepted the terms of Lukashenko’s agreement and agreed to halt the movement of his forces and return back to his bases.
The agreement also guarantees security for fighters of PMC Wagner.
It seems that the attempted coup has come to an end, and Prigozhin, along with his men, will return to their bases.
Reports of Wagner forces not only leaving Moscow Oblas, but also leaving Rostov.
Russian media reports that criminal cases have already been dropped from Yevgeny Prigozhin and that Prigozhin and his forces will receive FULL IMMUNITY
Restrictions on the movement of vehicles have been lifted from the Voronezh region which saw clashes earlier during the coup.
MY THOUGHTS:
- I did not expect this would end peacefully with a deal as it seemed both sides seemed at the point of no return
- I have no idea how Prigozhin and Putin can both operate in Russia with what just transpired, and I also have no idea what will happen with the war in Ukraine but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a space deal reached.
- Today was another example of citizen journalism replacing mainstream media with UNBIASED and UNCENSORED live breaking news.
- I am fried, been awake for more than 30 hours, initially doing a space with former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan before shifting to the Coup space which is at 21 hours and counting. Time for me to finally sleep!
