The Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, in association with Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited and SBI Ventures Limited, convened an industry consultation on the Maritime Investment Fund (MIF) in Mumbai. Chaired by Shri Vijay Kumar, IAS, Secretary, MoPSW, the consultation brought together key stakeholders from the maritime and financial sectors to deliberate on the fund’s design, strategy and implementation.

The Maritime Investment Fund is envisaged as a catalytic platform to mobilise long-term institutional capital, bridge equity financing gaps and accelerate investments across ports, shipping, shipbuilding, inland waterways, coastal shipping and maritime logistics. The discussions reflected a shared commitment towards strengthening India’s maritime ecosystem and advancing the vision of a globally competitive maritime nation.

The SbDS Brownfield Shipyard Capacity Expansion Portal is now live, providing Indian shipyards with a seamless, end-to-end digital platform for submitting and tracking proposals under the ₹8,261 crore Shipbuilding Development Scheme.

Designed to enhance transparency, efficiency and ease of doing business, the portal enables real-time application processing in accordance with the newly notified SbDS guidelines. By supporting capacity modernisation, technology upgradation and infrastructure expansion of existing shipyards, the initiative will strengthen India’s shipbuilding ecosystem and accelerate the nation’s journey towards becoming a globally competitive maritime hub by 2047.
