Dr. Harry S. Soroff, the founding chairman of Stony Brook Department of Surgery, recognized importance of centralization and sub specialization of hernia care back in 1980s. Fascinating find!

Ever heard of TAPPRA?
It’s a TransAbdominal PrePeritoneal ventral hernia repair with Rectus Aponeuroplasty.
Kind of a unique situation. It’s basically a robotic TAPP approach and of the primary closure of the hernia defect is not possible, then a posterior rectus sheath release can help get your defect closed.
