Hier, nous avons célébré le lancement de la #SemaineDeLÉgalitéDesSexes @FEGC_WAGE en présentant une nouvelle recherche financée par le programme Femmes canadiennes en politique locale (FCPL) de la FCM.

Malgré les progrès accomplis où les femmes représentent 31 % des personnes élues dans les municipalités, le chemin à parcourir est encore long pour parvenir à la parité. Les femmes, et souvent les femmes sous-représentées, dont les femmes autochtones, noires et racisées, ainsi que les membres de la communauté LGBTQ2S+, sont confrontées à des obstacles systémiques qui les empêchent de participer activement.

Yesterday, we celebrated the launch of @WAGE_FEGC
#GenderEqualityWeek by introducing new research funded by FCM’s Canadian Women in Local Leadership (CanWILL) program.

Despite the positive progress of achieving 31% women’s representation of municipal elected representatives, the road ahead to achieve gender parity is still long. Women, and often underrepresented women such as Indigenous, Black, and other racialized women, as well as members of the LGBTQ2S+ community face systemic barriers to a higher degree that prevent them from actively participating in municipal governance.
