it’s honestly okay to allow people to care about us, part of life is experiencing people’s presence - if we choose each other for a lifetime, it’s beautiful. if we don’t, it’s normal to feel hurt when things change and people drift.

fear of abandonment and hyper independence are linked. the idea of becoming emotionally attached to someone (bc of the potential pain of them leaving) is so scary, the brain combats this closeness by triggering us to isolate when shown care and refuse help when requiring support
