Looking like Anders Lee is preparing to hit free agency. His agent Neil Sheehy met with Isles GM Mathieu Darche today. Both sides far apart. The Isles intend to keep trying, they want their captain back. But Lee appears most likely headed to market at the moment. Obviously things could change between now and July 1.
Now that I’m back from vacation, the goal is to get an article up at some point today or tomorrow. Leaning towards an “On The Kill” grab bag, so let me know any topics you want to hear about and I’ll try and include it!
Yo @espn can we permanently get an option to mute the announcers and just have the crowd noise in the background? This is actually kind of nice. #StanleyCup
Sources say that an agreement on a contract extension between the Flyers and Daniel Vladař has been finalized. The details will be revealed in July (unless @FriedgeHNIC finds out sooner, haha), when it can be officially announced. The new contract will begin in the 27–28 season.
For the record, tonight’s broadcast was pretty awful all the way through. ESPN does not deserve the rights to the Stanley Cup Finals, Playoffs, or NHL.
NHL fans in Indianapolis have no broadcaster audio for Game 1 of the Stanely Cup Final. Here's how the first goal sounded on WRTV with only the in-arena sound.
Vegas is irate about the icing call (it was a good call).
Gostisbehere gets the puck after a chaotic faceoff win for the Canes and he rips it home. Tied again in Raleigh!
It’s not necessarily a “must get” power play, but at this point in the year EVERY power play feels like a “must get” power play.
Canes on the man advantage with about 13 to go in the 3rd. Down by 1.

Vegas’s cycle can’t be stopped. They’ve reclaimed the lead early in the third period.
It’s one of Vegas’s biggest strengths, and it’s going to be a quick series if Carolina can’t find an answer to those sequences.
Vegas has to be happy with that period. Regained control of the game with three unanswered and controlled play for most of the period.
At the same time, Canes did well to answer back by punishing another mistake for the Knights. 3-3 after 2. What a game this has been.
The Captain ties it! Carolina continues to capitalize off of Vegas’s mistakes. A failed zone exit turns into Staal sniping one past Hart. Huge for the Canes, who were getting absolutely quashed by Vegas throughout this period.
3-3 with 7 to go in the 2nd.
