In my first days in San Francisco, when I was 20, I was desperate to make money. I passed a typing test at a temp agency, and went to work at $7/hr. In one office, I encountered one of the first word processors. Boss asked if I would take home the manual and learn how to operate it. I did. Within a few months, I was making $14/hr. Yes, tech advance wiped out manual typing as a job. Good riddance.
