You claim the government removed "Criminal Code protections on faith." Let's name the actual law you are defending: Section 319(3)(b) of the Criminal Code. >

👉 This wasn't a protection for everyday believers, rather it was a literal legal loophole that allowed individuals to defend the wilful promotion of hatred in court simply by claiming, "I was just expressing an opinion based on a religious text in good faith."

In order to finally close that hate speech loophole, Parliament passed Bill C-9 (The Combatting Hate Act). This is the exact same bill that makes it a specific criminal offence to intimidate, obstruct, or harass people trying to access their synagogues, mosques, and churches.

👉 By voting NAY, you voted to preserve a legal "get out of jail free" card for hate speech, while simultaneously voting against a bill that gives law enforcement the actual tools they need to arrest people who are terrorizing religious communities.

👉 Closing a loophole for hate speech absolutely makes Canadians safer. Leaving out half the story doesn't.
