National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI): A revised UPI Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) framework will take effect on select merchant (P2M) transactions starting October 15, 2026, while keeping UPI completely free of cost for consumers and all transactions up to ₹2,000. Under the new rules, small merchants earning up to ₹1 lakh per month via QR codes will pay zero MDR, a flat ₹5 fee will apply to transactions above ₹2,000 in specific categories like railways and fuel, and other high-value P2M transactions will attract a 0.4% charge capped at ₹300. The initiative also introduces a dedicated fund to upgrade digital payment infrastructure for small vendors and Tier 3 markets.

No impact on small-value UPI transactions up to ₹2,000 for all merchants, which account for more than 95% of all UPI P2M transactions.

Hi @RailwaySeva @drm_umb @RailMinIndia Entry rates are changed haphazardly every now and then. It was a no charge for 10 mins of entry at Chandigarh Railway Station from Panchkula side. But today I was charged ₹20 for 7 minutes. Rates not displayed.Kindly look into it. Thanks

Viral video from Malviya Nagar, Delhi highlights alleged racial harassment after a minor residential dispute.

According to the information shared, the incident took place on February 19 during AC repair work in a fourth floor flat when dust from drilling led to a confrontation with residents on the lower floor. The three women from Arunachal Pradesh alleged that the argument escalated into verbal abuse and racial remarks targeting people from the Northeast.

Police intervention followed, and formal procedures were reportedly carried out at the spot. The women have demanded a formal apology, stating that the remarks were directed not only at them but at the wider Northeastern community.

The incident has again raised concerns over racial discrimination faced by people from the Northeast in metropolitan cities, with the victims saying the matter could have been resolved through simple communication instead of escalating further.
