Affirmative action 🧵:
Yesterday I had to look up my endocrinologist’s office info to get a referral.
I happened upon the fact that she graduated Columbia 5 years after I did. Which meant I was part of the team that admitted her, a team that regularly acted affirmatively.
@DrMelisLov Im sorry to hear this. Ive been busy with some Big Life Things & haven't really stopped. But I think given half a chance I would be feeling exactly the same. Try to be kind to yourself & let yourself be unmotivated. I think there's a lot of emotional catching up to do after a PhD
Anyone else experience a minor malaise after finishing their PhD? Like, I'm excited and all, but this big thing culminated in this very quick moment and now....?
@jmdstoryteller @GrimmProspects Definitely thinking about getting back into creative writing. And there are many books I would like to read with my eyes (as opposed to listen to on audiobook, which is basically the only way I read for fun during the PhD)
@LinimentCake Not to mention they were poor like definitely poor and they kept having more kids. Growing up I never heard people saying they shouldn't have more kids if they cant afford or take care of them. But I heard it about black and brown families all of the time.
