@ernietedeschi@DKThomp Isn’t it established literature that Runoff or RCV are materially better are representing interests? And that each of those is NOT naturally restricted to two parties (like FPTP is)?
I’m confused to see you suggest this - esp given your background.
@auren I don’t disagree because not everyone can have Socrates as their teacher
…and 1 to 1 teaching is well established as the best best best resulting outcomes for students by a half std dev over next best option.
@FredBenitez Hi Fred, I’m a local tutor for chaps. I use a whiteboard called https://t.co/j0hYv4Fqis with my students. That domain was banned on Eanes devices some time ago which means they can’t use their school iPads to work w me.
Can you help?

@housleyd so that calculus makes sense beyond funny symbols that move around.
Is she going to be an engineer, economist, computer, scientist, doctor etc.?
Then she definitely needs to know pre-Calc and the better she knows it, the further she will go in that field.
@housleyd If that’s the case, stats would be more helpful.
Is your daughter ever gonna have an understanding of how objects fall? Is she going to take a major that requires any understanding of rates of change?
Then the reason she’s learning pre-calculus is…
@besttrousers Matt, how do you have the compassion to interact w the tankies.
Every time I see one w a Slavic last name, I wish my genie would let me put them in a bread line.
@HKorbey Every student w exceptional math had parents who drilled this before school did.
Everything else is lecture makes sense if you have these bc you can follow the teacher.
Cite: am private tutor for the 1% schools
@HKorbey Both Kumon and Mathnasium work for the same reason.
They drill the three skills that completely stop math mastery when they hit:
1)factoring/mult tables
2)+-• fractions
3) solving for x w 1 eq or 2.
Only when you teach this to every algebra 2 on level student, can you go on
@Molson_Hart Molson IMO this is the argument of the ages that the incoming generation knows nothing.
I’m not saying it’s “ok” that the girl has limited knowledge but the bottom third of any HS time immemorial has questionable skills.
The news is that UConn has a shit admissions process.
@judegomila Bc markets respond to *anticipated* rates. Half the point of the fed is to indicate where they will move rates. The delayed feedback loop is a feature.
@lymanstoneky As someone who does supplemental math w HS kids for a long time.
Every home schooled kid where the parent is >50% of instruction has noticeably lower quality education.
Can only think of 1 counter example and it was a rotation of teaching parents w PHD on their names.
@girdley Re psychedelics: Dose makes the poison.
Guidance for your granddaughter-to-bes post partum will likely include well established dose of Ketamine or Psilocybin.
@ernietedeschi What encourages those countries to use tariffs over say sales tax or VAT. Ease of collection due to point of entry? Poor Economic planning?
