I want to share an amazing moment I had at the gym today. I was working out on a chest machine doing flies when I looked up and saw a young man waiting nervously off to the side. I asked if he was waiting to use the machine I was on and he said, “yes, I’m sorry, I’ll come back”. I said no no, to please come over and work in with me. He came rushing over and had the biggest smile on his face. As he set his stuff down he told me that he follows me and loves my videos. I thanked him and asked his name. “Crishon”, he said again with the biggest smile. Over the next 10-15 minutes we hit some great sets together but had an even better conversation. He told me about how he was born in Jamaica, came here with his Mom when he was young, and now is premed in school studying to be a doctor. We talked about the different music we like and he said the hip hop I like sounds like what his Mom listens to! (Yes, I know I’m old 😂) Before we finished he wanted to ask me one last question which I found so interesting. It wasn’t about the gym or working out. He asked me, “How do you deal with failure in life?”. I could tell this young man was incredibly intelligent and bright. I told him that there’s going to be times you succeed, there’s going to be times you fail, but what’s most important is that you ALWAYS learn from both. I also told him I’ve failed many, many times in life but NEVER quit and it made me stronger. Crishon, if you see this, just know it was an honor to meet you. You have such a great contagious energy and very bright light inside you I hope you shine for the world to see. You are going to do great things one day young man.
