I took home Best Of Nasus at #RQLA! So proud of this achievement, I played 6 Skirmishes leading up to the event and made it to 4 finals iterating the final build. Thank you to my local testing group who let me test my horrifically bad day 1 builds. Ask me anything!
@SadkielGaming@LotharHS It’s not power equivalent to recycling a rune. It’s a power restricted to “initially” playing a unit or gear whereas these units were worded as an ability of a unit.
@caro_irl@ZoGumby This has been happening for a while. I will not name drop them out of respect, but many pro MTG and YGO players moved to OP, Lorcana, and RB purely because the EV/competitive circuit of MTG (and especially YGO) has fallen off. No judgment on them, this economy sucks.
This prizing update announcement is Riot Games saying we want RC+ level competition to be the cream of the crop Legends duking it out. And that's OK, it's just different (for better or worse).
I would categorize them as:
* Truly bad, will likely not Day 2 an RQ and average a 5-3 record (Rumble, Garen, etc)
* Mid, can/will Day 2, average record of 9-4 or 10-3 (Nasus, Ambessa, etc.)
* Cream of the crop, can/will top cut, average record of 11-1-1 (Irelia, Kennen, etc.)
Also lets not delude ourselves. Let's put aside the anecdotes of this insane Fiora player who wins your local Skirmishes. Just purely statistically, some decks are better than others in a way you cannot skill diff due to differences in card quality.
For people who don't play Riftbound, we're not all EV chasers. You have a Legend and Chosen Champion within the confines of a domain pair which dramatically changes gameplay. It's not comparable to MTG 1-5 colors. Here you start with a Legend first, not the land base.
Isn't it just as compelling of a narrative to say I am taking a lower tier deck and pushing the limits of what it can do? I think that's why I am so appalled at people from other TCGs criticizing players like @GYATarina who put in the time and effort.
The RC Best Of Discussion discourse is interesting. For context, I was less so chasing the EV and moreso chasing the title and memories of being a teenage top laner.
To me, this was the perfect intersection of a fun journey and pushing my competitive limits.
@TelfenTCG@TeeCGGaming Power costs (self Land Destruction to play a more powerful card) offer comparable levels of depth. And who’s not to say Riftbound gets Runes with card text on them later? It is only a year old.
The way Riftbound utilizes power costs has changed my ranking - it really makes the resource system work well. I have their system as #2 now, with lands still ahead ⛰️
Would love to hear everyone's thoughts. I was planning on publishing a Metafy, but I have been busy preparing for my PhD thesis defense this Fall Quarter and don't feel comfortable doing so until I find "the" Nasus build.
Hey folks, my mind is currently stuck on this web on how to build #Nasus in #Radiance. Does anyone else think of their pet decks in the same chaotic way? This is what I love about #Riftbound, building and piloting Nasus for a Best Of meant I got to experiment with weird cards.
Discussion on Breach: I may be giving too much away, but Breach now becomes an incredible card with Empyrean. Previously the only payoffs were Rockfall Path and holding with Watcher. This may mean Heron makes the cut again!
@bigsatodontcrai What if a game is inherently more prone to multiple bad formats throughout its history because of its lack of resource system? I’ve played YGO>MTG>HS>Lorcana>RB. In no other game have I had to live through Inf. Barrier, Gateway, Shockmaster, Wind-Ups, Djiin, and U-Link.
