#WATCH | Bengaluru, Karnataka: Speaking on the sidelines of the Japan–India Mobility Summit 2026, VK Saraswat, member of NITI Aayog, says, "India's journey, particularly in the mobility sector, has been transformed by collaboration with Japan... Regarding carbon neutrality, the multi-fuel, multi-pathway approach, which has been identified by all, including Japan and India, is the most important part. For carbon neutrality, we need a progressive approach so that we can use the legacy system because you can’t overnight change everything to e-mobility. You can also use multi-fuel systems that can reduce carbon emissions, like ethanol blending, the use of CNG, or you can go for sustainable solutions where net carbon zero will be achieved if you use biofuels... In terms of multiple pathways, it is important that we equally play for all of them. Legacy systems using blended fuels, flex fuels, hybrid vehicles, which are already coming and should go across all segments, and then e-mobility. This should happen..."
