@KinderheimRune Yup. It’s already showing. Trump ended the military aid Biden had been giving to Ukraine, and now that the US has spent the equivalent amount on Iran attacks in less than a week as Biden gave Ukraine during his entire term, Ukraine is less wiling to help the US.
Nuking my following list again because my values keep changing back and forth over and over again on certain topics, and discourse from most of y’all sadly hasn’t been helping that.
@DoctorPerin I was just thinking about this. I liked to believe that debate is the avenue through which people uncover the most truthful claims, but every year it looks more and more to me like a field test through which people figure out which strategies make their claims >look< stronger.
@omgsidewalks@AKNS2512 Mom’s side probably just seems better because mom puts so much effort into subtly manipulating her children into seeing dad’s side of the family as the bad side.
“[Under the Soviet system] the very constitution has never been carried out for one single day; ...all the decisions mature in secrecy, high up in a small irresponsible group and then are released on us and on you like a bolt of lightning.”
@FeistyKittyPie@jordanticus This is so important! I remember I was watching a tik tok of a young woman responding to a comment which read, “I bet you were a horrible child,” and the woman was basically just like, “Yeah? And? I’m not that kid anymore.” And that changed everything for me.
One of the most poisonous tactics the young groyper/alt-right use is a form of weaponized irony, where they're always joking and memeing, they refuse to openly state their beliefs.
I think about this Sartre quote *all the time* these days. He clocked them decades ago.
@DoctorPerin Interesting. I vibe with psychologists and veterans alike. I think it’s because a serious, generally non-biased psychologist, and a veteran who has done the work to become mentally healthy again, both have a wonderful balance of no-nonsense and aggressively wry wit.
@NarcissistBox He did have recurring nightmares after the divorce, but in his waking hours, he felt nothing for the termoild that any of his family members were going through.
@NarcissistBox He told me that when his parents broke the news of their impending divorce to him, he didn’t feel anything. His younger sisters were crying inconsolably, but he just went back to his room and carried on with his day like it was no big deal.
