@SW_Help@thetrainline They claim my complaint is now with the rail company for cancelling late, & that my request for a refund on my new tickets is fruitless as they’re advance singles (non-refundable) for future dates on which the trains are running. I’m being financially punished for being prepared!
Looking for support: did anyone else have tickets booked for travel this week (advance single) that they rebooked to save disruption, only to be emailed two hours later to be told their original booking was eligible for refund as their original train was cancelled? #RMTstrikes
@SW_Help Thanks for the quick response. My issue is a bit more complicated. As I rebooked before they informed me about the cancellation, @thetrainline are refunding my original tickets, but only to the price of the new booking. I don’t actually need this new return.
They suggest that my complaint is with @SW_Help as they cancelled the 17.22 B’mth to Waterloo, which was my return journey, on 22nd June. Can anyone confirm? Due to my forward thinking am I simply stuck with a ticket I can’t use?
I didn’t want to waste £75 spent on rtn from Leeds to B’mth and couldn’t request a refund at 9.30am on 18th June. I was due to leave Leeds on 19th. At 12.20pm on 18th @thetrainline informed me via email that my original booking was now eligible for refund.

I am currently seeking a number of regular writers for @ElephantMag for several online series that set out to expand what art can be and where you might find it, looking to the everyday and the ordinary and going far beyond the gallery. Thread below with details.
@Hermesparcels could you explain why an image of my face and my name on a digital railcard is insufficient proof of ID to collect a parcel at a Co-op store, when a bank card with only my name on it is. Literally anybody could carry that card on them and collect my parcel. #angry
There is no day I can remember over the last couple of months where I’ve not worked. Weekends included. I’m employed 4.5 days per week and have decided that this afternoon is that rare 0.5 of a day that I just won’t do any work. I’m going shopping. Brain off! #catchmeifyoucan
Replace ‘northern communities’ with ‘middle class Home Counties’ and the absurdity of this hits homes. The idea that repurposing train carriages from the 1980s is a substitute for investing properly in important services our communities need is a joke - not something to celebrate
