@alechogg The problem is such an important peace of legislation should be preceded by policy positions being debated beforehand, it should not just show up in a draft document published for comments.
@AdriaanBasson The department is cutting teacher posts because does have budget for these, but it over spends on textbooks which most schools will say does not add value in educating kids.

@MichaelJordaan It would be a pool of "easy" or "free" capital, which never brings success about because there is no "do or die" incentive to ensure it delivers objectives
Last night, @afriforum Community Safety, in collaboration with its Moreletapark Neighbourhood Watch, conducted a proactive anti-vehicle spiking operation in the far eastern outskirts of Pretoria.
Home Affairs is proud to announce a major upgrade to the digital service that enables government departments and the private sector to verify the identities of clients looking to obtain social grants, open bank accounts, and access a myriad other services using biometrics like fingerprints and facial recognition.
In recent years, the system has been plagued by inefficiencies, with users reporting a failure rate of up to 50% on these verification “hits” against the National Population Register (NPR). It also routinely took up to 24 hours for the system to even respond, and when responses did arrive, they were often so littered with errors that they required a cumbersome process of manual verification - leaving the beneficiary without access to a grant or bank account.
Thanks to the focused work of #TeamHomeAffairs, those errors are now set to become a thing of the past. Testing has confirmed that the upgraded system not only responds within milliseconds, but that it now delivers an error rate of well below 1%. The Department is ready to roll out access to the upgraded verification service to all our valued clients across the public and private sectors.
This is Home Affairs digital transformation driving social and financial inclusion for all! 🇿🇦
