@TeakleAlex@JemRoberts I don’t know, but clearly station which was full of 35 year old presenters in the 1970s (serving “the mood mums” of that era), needs to move younger as time moves on, or it would be serving 85 year olds now. As it is the presenters are in their 50s and 60s, even after this churn.
@HughWoozencroft That’s fair, but just as London civil servants live from Swindon to Dover and Brighton to Northampton, it’ll have quite a wide footprint (and also diversify the intake to include people who would never move to London)
@LiamHamilton16@radioparr@BBCBreakfast@Digital_i_ This is the BBC’s entire point: stop spending all the money on linear BBC One at a time 2% of the population is watching it (and probably only 4pc watching telly at all).
@Jue241265@LeeHurstComic Eh? Fuel duty and VED isn’t for roads. But if you want to hypothecate it, at least include the cost of road accidents, environmental damage and retro-fitting indicators to BMWs 😆
@lembitopik Global warming got renamed climate change because there are more extremes of weather in both directions. And none of those weather occurrences change the fact that average temperatures are rising globally. You were better when you concerned yourself with potholes in Welshpool.
@radioriley Seems to fit the spirit of this. Main difference will be whether it actually happens under a new leader. (Also how it’s managed in Shropshire or Warwickshire outside the metro mayor system)
@JAHeale That’s a short-term hassle (which I don’t belittle, or begrudge them their expenses etc). The benefit is in ten years’ time when a new cohort has been recruited from outside a band stretching from Stevenage to Crawley and runs the country accordingly.
@IainDale Yeah, but if he turned up at Number 10 and spent the first week sorting his IT login (or whatever the equivalent is for becoming First Lord of the Treasury), everyone would have a hissy fit about being unprepared.
@cjsnowdon It’s made in Tadcaster.
Don’t get me wrong, plastic beer from Bud to Carling to Estrella making money for multinationals can all get in the bin, but it’s not imported.
@DianaHarding7@RachelReevesMP It’s just to stop people piling cash into S&S ISAs once the purely cash ones have a lower deposit limit. Fine to argue that change is wrong, but the latest one is only to avoid leaving a bus-sized loophole.
@darrengrimes Do you know the costs of “opening the archive”? Repeat fees for actors who were paid for a single showing? Lost sales opportunities? The material does not belong solely to the BBC.
@Caribbrexiteer@MarinaPurkiss I mean, it was OK for a pile-on when Starmer accepted (fully declared, if I’ll-advised) concert tickets or clothes, but not for an MP who accepts £5m without declaring it or expecting to account for what it was in return for or how it was spent? Who’s the biased one? 🤡😂
@peppiatt_philip@GlamBecks21 Eh? He’s usually scoring 25-30% in polls, so a solid 70% wouldn’t (and I suspect that’s a pretty hard ceiling). There’ll also be a lot of tactical voting at the next election.. both on the left to keep Reform out, and I daresay on the right to keep Labour out.
