80's - a feverish burst from spring into summer and celebratory national peak
90's - an angst in august from a summer and prosperity that lasted too long
Y2K - a yearning for a fall that hadn’t arrived yet
9/11 - autumn begins
2012 - winter begins with a countdown toward another apocalypse, and Obama's second term

we're probably in march now. Trump's re-election in '24 might have been the real or false start of a new spring. too early to tell what event necessarily kicks it off.
