@Anxiousvids This moron deserved his beating for thinking he could freely strike his girlfriend in public, essentially challenging and insulting every man around him, who would have to either act or be revealed as weaklings. He deserved worse.
@Borys_Kit Excellent reporting. If Clayface stumbles, things will get grim over at DC Studios. No doubt Man of Tomorrow will be successful. Maybe the best course was for Gunn to direct every feature in his new DCU. There'd be a lot fewer movies, but they wouldn't fail at the box office.
@DuhHitch@GFRobot True, my first post was sloppy, but it's like someone critiquing something in "The Godfather" when they actually mean "The Godfather Part II." The other difference is that (unlike Nolan's The Odyssey) everyone has seen those, and what characters are included, and aren't guessing.
@DuhHitch@GFRobot The issue was how Achilles was being depicted. The original post praised Troy, and said Nolan should take note. That's what the point was. And the Iliad and the Odyssey are connected sequential parts of Homer's epic story of the Trojan War. It's not confusing.
@DuhHitch@GFRobot This is the problem with debating a movie that no one has seen. Many people are convinced that Achilles appears as a character in Nolan's The Odyssey, so they make comparisons like this that will most likely make no sense later.
@AVARY It is ridiculous to suggest that Nolan and cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema aren't composing the frame. The trailers alone disprove this idea. But different camera formats have different demands, and a filmmaker adjusts his process accordingly.
@TheCriticalDri2 Dumb comment. She stepped away from acting for a decade to raise her kids. Her quote was about a type of movie she doesn't care for -- not about Pitt. I liked "F1" fine, but I get her point. She's got two Oscars, been in real classics, and probably isn't jealous of most actors.
@nicksortor This case is going nowhere. If you think a judge is going to sentence an Olympic athlete to 10 years in prison because he reached into a public pool, you are delusional.
@ianmSC You have no idea what choices Nolan made until you actually see the movie. You can't judge anything based on a trailer -- especially not a split second shot of an actor you might disapprove of. No one knows if this film is a disaster or classic. In a few weeks, it will be clear.
@JJ_Kresl People who only pretend to understand cinematography like to make this argument -- but it's just because they can't tell the difference. I just heard an interview with Scorsese where he remembers his amazement at seeing The Searchers in VistaVision. He could tell even as a child.
@TatooineSons Extreme hardcore fans debating among themselves has no relevance to mainstream Hollywood filmmaking, which serves a vast audience. Almost none of that audience has heard of Heir to the Empire or Splinter of the Mind's Eye or any Star Wars novel. That isnt a consideration at all.
@RobSchneider That's awesome. Adam's a true friend and anyone would be lucky to have a pal like that. I also have no idea what his politics are and I don't care. He hasn't distracted us from his comedy gifts by being a raging name-calling troll. He seems to have things figured out.
@vv_SHYLO@isaacrrr7 Of course, but that doesn't excuse a man beating a woman half his size. He could have easily stopped her without crossing that line. He's weak.
@zakfilm Maybe because Spielberg's film cost at least a third less to make? The trades cover the movie business as a business first, so cost vs. profit is the main subject at all times. It's not complicated.
@JosephKahn And 99.999999% of the audience have no idea what lens is being used, what brand mic is above a star's head, or what the director is eating from craft services. That's not the point. A filmmaker should have whatever tools he chooses, especially one with Nolan's proven success.
