The Immersive World Map is here! ๐บ๏ธ
A complete overhaul of the world selection screen, featuring a custom map design and a seamless layout that connects all Sims 4 worlds together.
Available in early access on my Patreon!
This extra space is exactly what allows my Immersive World Map to have this subtle zoom-out animation when opening the world map with the mouse scroll!
Did you know that while the canvas size for the world map texture is technically 2048x2048, the actual texture is barely 1537x1081, and then it also gets zoomed in in-game, so on a typical 16:9 screen, the displayed map is barely 1280x720 pixels? ๐ซฃ No wonder they're this blurry

You can add immersive, animated clouds to your Sims 4 maps today, for free.
It works with every world, regardless of whether you have a world map override or not.
Give it a shot! It's part of my "Better World Select" mod.

@jp_vandekamp Itโs on the list! I'd love to work with Evan again, but he'll need to have an opening for my commission. If the project happens, it probably won't be until 2027. ๐
@SimMattically To add to this, here's a timelapse of it coming together! Unfortunately I wasn't able to zoom in without it being blurry, but until I can find a better solution, here's a blurry look at Britechester!
Dev fun fact #5:
Here's a behind-the-scenes look into how Britechester was shaped over time. As Evan (the artist who worked on the map) admitted, this one was quite challenging! It was especially tough due to the layout of all the buildings, which were redrawn multiple times to achieve the final design.
At my request, Evan also completely redrawn the big city skyline in the back to match the custom matte asset that the game developers made for Britechester.
@jackofallgames7 Also itโs undeniable that Apple gets copied left and right on everything they do ๐ญ even by Samsung.
Apple is lowkey classy with their marketing just minding their own business
Dev fun fact #4:
When designing the Immersive World Map, the goal was to deliver high-quality, sharp visuals. One challenge was the ocean texture, which dynamically extends and covers the empty space both horizontally and vertically, no matter your screen ratio.
To achieve this, that ocean texture would need to be significantly wider and taller than the already large, detailed world map, which wasn't possible in The Sims 4 without a workaround. That's why I came up with a layered solution: the continents and details live in a high-resolution image, while the vast ocean is delivered as a compressed, low-resolution texture over seven times smaller than the original and then scaled up to the original size with no perceptual difference.
@ToysForBob I genuinely got teary eyed when I saw him today ๐ฅน I will never stop being grateful for you guys choosing Spyro to be your first project after going independent. You fill in a very important niche of games in today's age. Thank you so much. ๐
