You can not be ‘objective’ about genocide. There is no both sides to this. There is no justification. No excuse. There is absolutely nothing in the universe that justifies the murder, starvation, maiming and psychological terror that Israel is carrying out against Palestinians
Watching Gen Z men veer right hits different for Millennials. We lived through Columbine, 9/11, the Iraq War, 2008 crash, 2016 election, covid, abortion bans, & now this. We watched institutions repeatedly fail us while older generations selfishly protected the status quo. 🧵1/
@AmyRemeikis@GuardianAus You are worthy of all of it and more. I always value your analysis and perspective on what is happening in our very imperfect country and will genuinely miss it from The Guardian. I hope you will be back giving it on another platform soon, after a very well earned break.
Teenagers are too young for social media, and also apparently too young to protest for what they believe in. But 10-year-olds apparently can understand criminal responsibility.
Perfect example of how the Coalition flooded the zone with shit. There are no security concerns. No one has left Gaza for Australia since May. They created an issue out of thin air on a random weekday and now ppl are thinking of an imagined problem rather than our very real ones
Dear Australians,
Take it from an expat Yank:
Pay attention to what's happening in the U.S. and U.K. Learn from our mistakes.
And for god's sake, beware of anyone who says privatizing ANYTHING will make it better. That person is looking to get rich off a poorer person's back.
@JaneCaro It was said by commentators all through his Prime Ministership that there was no proof his faith effected policy, even though that was clearly ridiculous. He was always clear how important his faith was to him, how could it then not affect every decision he made?
@sussanley Funny you can't do anything about the rapists in your own backyard @sussanley
You were first elected in 2001 and you've done sweet jack-shit about the assaults against women and children in Farrer
Instead of fawning around wealthy irrigators, try walking some of your own talk
I will be formally taking Deputy Leader of Liberal Party to Australian Human Rights Commission next week on behalf of @ASRC1. Lodging a complaint that they are in breach of the Racial Discrimination Act by inciting racial hatred . Time we send a message this won’t be tolerated.
Today I remember Scott Morrison for his reign of terror, cruelty and misery that he inflicted on refugees. I remember the traumatised children who lost their childhoods, the refugee women raped & the men who died in offshore hellholes whose stories are not being told today.
All governments break election promises - some are just are better at selling the shift in position.
But we should want governments to respond to changing circumstances and do what is best for people (the caveat - what’s best for people, not vested interests)
